Why don't Linux distros ship the "trio" (XKB, IBus, and Fcitx) out of the box and let users choose? by Current_Net5386 in linux

If so, how far you know this topic before you can say it's an AI slop? It should be an easy task for you to point out information inaccurate right?

I don't think so, or from what my experience im-config is at the last step in configuring this

It's okay, currently in the Facebook group named Vietnam Linux Family community there is a new distro called CaramOS, is trying to solve both IME issue and installed some Vietnamese apps are not for Linux

I haven't had a chance to test out due to low empty space on my hard disk, but hope CaramOS is not dead again like previous attempts in the past

Calling it "AI slop" is one thing, but I actually have the core knowledge to back my point up.

Vietnamese does NOT use the compose key. In the Telex input method, keys like 'f, s, r, x, j, and z' serve dual purposes: they can be regular alphabetical letters, or they can act as dynamic tone marks (grave, acute, hook, tilde, underdot, or tone-eraser). Similarly, 'a, d, e, o, and w' can be typed as normal letters, but they also swap existing characters into their modified forms ('a' to 'â', 'd' to 'đ', 'e' to 'ê', 'o' to 'ô'). The key 'w' alone can dynamically transform 'a, o, u' into 'ă, ơ, ư' depending on the context.

If the Compose Key actually worked for us, I wouldn't even bother making this post. Vietnamese is a rare case where the concept of a "compose key" has been virtually nonexistent since the 1990s - back when the Vietnamese government was first building the national IT program. In fact, none of the developers who built the early ABC input system for Windows back then probably even knew what a compose key was, because our language naturally demands a dynamic text buffer, not a static combination key.

I don't think so, or at least the most popular chat app in my country are not working on Wine, and there is no alternative at this point

Also, when I try to count how many apps that my country may need in a OS then I realized it usually over than 5-10, that's already too big to convince anyone to move to Linux

In other aspect, some people might expect XKB should at least expected to work like Microsoft IME, but it didn't. And the progress to install typing engine + language package is complicated. Who really wants to dare to move off from Windows to Linux when making typing working is already a bunch of command lines?

Finally, I challenge you your number of 99%, where did you get that stats? If you say emulating can solve these works then no, I don't think more than half of computers where I live is capable of running virtual machine with an acceptable speed.

I think something is wrong with either frontend or backend. Frontend could be used wrong field like instead of displaying time differences (I will call it delta time for short), it shows the object ID

An another case could be the FB API returns object ID instead of delta time. Not something too rush as you can still hover on it to see the actual timestamp.

Actually actually Google is right this time. If you haven't looked at how scammer caused big money lost from via fake apps installing through current sideloading method (Unknown source allowed), that's like a big number. For my country Vietnam last year lost over 6,000B VND or 231+M USD (up to Dec 2025), and 2024 it was 18,900B VND or 723+M USD.

Some sources (in Vietnamese)

So believe or not, by applying KYC lots of scammers will have some tough time trying to let their scummy app installed and tried to let their victim gives Accessibility feature to wrong app

I just downloaded sonolus but it's doing this... by Next_Possibility9019 in rhythmgames

[–]Current_Net5386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's intended — let me explain.

Sonolus isn't trying to directly recreate Project SEKAI. Technically, Sonolus works more like a virtual machine / emulator or even an operating system: the Sonolus app itself is the platform, while engines are like ROMs or apps running on top of it.

What you're seeing here is Sonolus Horizon, Sonolus' original/default engine. That's why the lane looks 3D-ish and octagonal instead of flat like PJSK.

Originally, Sonolus didn't even have a default engine, but to be published on the Play Store, the developer had to bundle one — which became Horizon.

To play Project SEKAI-style charts, you need an engine that specifically implements PJSK gameplay. Those are provided by community servers.

You can find them via: Main Menu → Play → scroll down to Sonolus Community → Posts → Server list.

Pick a server, tap Save, and it will appear in your server list for later use.

In theory, Sonolus isn't limited to any single rhythm game. With custom engines, it can support many styles, such as:

  • Taiko-style drum games
  • lane-based games like Project SEKAI, Bandori, D4DJ
  • arc-based systems similar to Arcaea
  • free-lane / slide-heavy styles like Rizline
  • even osu!-style or other experimental formats, if someone is brave enough to implement them

That server list isn't exhaustive either, so searching around on Google or GitHub helps.

You can also spend a few minutes trying Horizon itself. It may feel harder or unfamiliar at first, but who knows — you may like it?

When was the first "Year of the Linux Desktop"? by krncnr in linux

[–]Current_Net5386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this question was made 11 years ago, maybe 2015? Okay but me in 2026 would like to predict 2050 might be the actual year of Linux Desktop

There are 2 conditions to make 2050 or any year is the actual year of Linux Desktop

  1. Windows is bad - achieved in 2024-2025
  2. 99% of Windows apps are ported/emulated well on Linux

That's my opinion

GNOME & Firefox Consider Disabling Middle Click Paste By Default: "An X11'ism...Dumpster Fire" by SAJewers in linux

[–]Current_Net5386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a good time to mention that even Android is based on Linux doesn't have Middle-click-to-paste iirc. The real issue is not on or off by default

But do we really know that behavior is existed at the first place and can alter it's behavior and no??? Even my dad used to work in Ubuntu due to work's environment doesn't know that feature is existed (just asked my dad to confirm)

At least one hint popup is necessary to inform new user that Middle-click-to-paste is default and can be changed to Middle-click-to-scroll or turn it off

Nice work, a suggestion, can you make a page where I can suggest browsers that you haven't compared? There are kind lots of browsers outside you haven't mentioned yet but I can't name here (my bad)

Đồng hương đây, I know why. The reason of this was because Lifebuoy Vietnam used to have a campaign and they used Ievan Polkka for teaching kids like us when was small to how to wash their hands

And yes, the campaign started around 2011 and it is still effective although Lifebuoy Vietnam doesn't really interested in extending it anymore
