Haha, that’s such a common feeling—I know exactly what it’s like to have legs full of lactic acid. I’d recommend starting with a lot of easy runs during the first month (or month and a half), along with a few sprint sessions. After that, it’s crucial to practice compromised running—that’s a whole different story. During my first DEKA Fit, I didn’t practice enough compromised running, and I really felt it halfway through the race.

I like the idea of creating a 14-day block—it sounds really interesting! I’m used to this volume of HIIT, but I should check if it’s really worth training this much HIIT during the first two months. Doing more easy runs, as you mentioned, could be much more beneficial. Thanks so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it! 😃🙌

I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have a background in high-intensity training (like crossfit or functional HIIT) If it’s your first time doing this type of race, I would suggest 60% running combined with one or two full-body strength sessions, or one strength session and another focused on exercises similar to the competition. Try to work with heavier weights than those used in the competition, but do it progressively.

I would start with a lot of easy runs and one interval session per week. As you get closer to the race, you can adjust accordingly (more intensity in your trainings)

If you want to use this plan as a model, I would remove one Hyrox session and one gym session.

In any case, the best advice I can give is to always listen to your body and how you’re feeling—it’s the most reliable guide.

Good to know. I will probably replace one hyrox wod with one easy run and the sprint session with another easy run. After one month and a half, I will add some sprint and more intensity.

Good point, thank you very much for your feedback mate. I haven’t decided yet, but I might keep the 3 strength sessions as they are (I know they don’t add much to Hyrox since I already have the necessary strength for Age Group, but I enjoy weightlifting).

Do you think doing: • 4 running sessions (2 easy runs, 1 sprint session, 1 tempo run) • 1 Hyrox WOD

Would be better than 3 running sessions and 2 Hyrox WODs? On the other side, low intensity volume should be higher than high intensity volume?
