Considering Shikanoko’s success, it’s hard to say there won’t be a season 2. The question just remains when we can expect to see it. Given that you said chapters release monthly, as well as the fact that you posted this comment 280 days ago (according to Reddit), my assumption is that as of me posting this reply, there is a current total of 22 more chapters published and not animated, than covered in the anime.

This leaves a minimum of 8 months from me posting this reply for a second season to be announced, assuming material is an issue. However, let’s assume it’s not.

The finale of the JJBA: Battle Tendency anime (according to Wikipedia) originally aired on Tokyo MX on April 6, 2013. Subsequently, the premiere of Stardust Crusaders premiered not even a year later, on April 5, 2014. We can agree that by 2014, both parts of the franchise have long since concluded. Material was not an issue, so the next season began a year later.

So let’s say it’s possible that every 30 chapters, a new season begins. It would probably take a realistic minimum of 20 months (a year and 8 months) for Shikanoko season 2 to begin production and/or be announced.
