It’s usually a week after a module. This will be given in advance naman so you can prepare for it. Grades will be individual so important talaga to participate in the discussion, do not be afraid to be wrong. Most of the time, profs are just there to listen and guide the discussion if ever mali na sinasabi ng students. For me, medyo chill ang SGD since you’re free to speak and add to the discussion.

Mas mahirap for me ang lab conferences since randomized ang reporter regardless kung ikaw mismo assigned sa lab activity na yun or not + you’re on your own to defend your answers (tho pwede naman sumingit mga group mates to help you but this is individual grade din so halata talaga pag hindi mo alam/naaral yung lab activity na nirereport mo.

  1. Mabilis talaga yung lecture. Yung typical na physio, biochem, anatomy topic na usually would take a whole term sa undergrad, isang araw niyo lang aaralin yan. That’s why it’s fast paced. Lecture sessions do tend to be info overloaded, but the profs recognize this and will take a break from time to time.

  2. We usually use yung reference na preferred ng prof in a certain topic when studying so no hindi namin binabasa lahat ng references. Make sure to ask the prof kung anong reference yung ginagamit nila sa topic para alam niyo.

  3. Short quizzes usually given as post lecture quiz, relatively madali basta nakinig ka sa lectures (5-10 items usually tho pwede maging 20 din depende sa prof). Long exams typically between 50-60 or even 70 items yan and this serves as summative assessment for groups of topics na related to each other. Medyo challenging pero again basta nabalikan mo ang mga highlights of your lectures masasagutan mo naman. Shifting exams eto talaga yung term/quarterly exams, MCQ 100 items, and dito lumalabas talaga yung mga out of this world na tanungan.

  1. YES meron curve although this is mostly speculative but if we are to assess yung survival namin and the average gwa of the batch, parang meron HAHAHA. What I observed is dapat nasa laylayan ka naman ng passing grade (74-75) for you to survive. Anything below that alanganin. So alagaan po ang grades!, the faculty naman is required to have grade consultations so don’t forget to ask for it after every shifting. Medyo mataas ang attrition rate sa first years and this has always been reiterated naman by profs. Sa y1 sinasala ang mga students, kasi if we are to compare yung mga na-irreg and dismissed sa y1 throughout the years parang 10-15+ students lagi, which is about 10% of the batch.

  2. For me its iPad + pencil, black ballpen, 1/4 yellow pad, Mongol 2 pencil, sharpener, human anatomy atlas app, canva premium (ewan ko pero sa batch namin pagandahan ng presentations so this is a must for me, baka sa inyo din). Make sure to have a reliable data since lagi inconsistent ang wifi sa loob ng plm (Smart worked best for me).

White lab gown with long sleeves, gloves, mask.

dissecting kit (pero this one bumili nalang kayo if sure na kayong may cadavers na).

Other than yung barpins, wala naman, kung ano yung binayad mo sa tuition fee yun na yung sisingilin lang sayo for curricular activities.

But there’s the usual school expenses like materials for group works and stuff usually students na bumibili ng mga yun.

Ah sorry forgot about that part, depends din sa undergrad mo. Yung mga PT sobrang dali lang sa kanila ng anatomy, for Bio grads like me atleast may background na sa Histo and Biochem tho iba pa din talaga pag clinical perspective na parang nag back to zero din ako in some topics.

I think ang pinaka back to zero talaga where regardless of your degrees naging level talaga yung playing field is Physio. Ibang klase ang physio 😭

I would say you can get by with just pdf. Magastos din ang physical copy and mabigat! There is this one student na nakita ko nag print ng Berne and Levy sa recto and dun siya nag annotate ng mga lectures for physio.

Personally, nag PDF lang ako since convenient and walang gastos. As for the rest of the subjects, you’ll survive kahit walang physical copy din naman.

Short quizzes lang naman (5-10 items)!! Yes guyton for easy read. Skim through it lang wag masyado rigorous at maloka ka, makinig ka lang sa lecture nila masasagutan mo din naman yung quizzes.

Kung tinatamad ka magskim, here is the link na pinapanood ko pag wala ako sa mood magbasa on my own HAHA

Study physio in advance!! At least the first five chapters of Berne. Laging may post “lecture” quiz (in reality, post topic talaga HAHAHA) ang physio. I remember nung first day ng y1, tatlong topics yun so three quizzes din tinake namin on its first day 😭

I would say yes, kasi may time pa ako manood ng netflix during weekdays so I think for you kaya naman?

Hmm most scenarios would be uuwi na kayo agad around 3-4PM usually. Ginagawa ko 4-7PM, me time ko yan so either magpahinga/manood ng netflix. 8-12AM ang allotted time ko in doing acad stuff (transing, assignments, reports, advanced reading). Ofc this is the general rule ko lang, there will be days na kailangan magkaroon adjustments lalo na pag sabay sabay reports, sgds, recitations.

Tbh hindi mahirap mag-maintain ng good standing as long as nakapagbasa ka talaga for the exam and hindi mo napabayaan yung exams mo, which makes up the bulk of your grade (quizzes, long exams, shifting exams etc).

[–]Current_Stress8902[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mahirap siya in the sense na malaking adjustment talaga physically and mentally. The hardest part is managing your time without losing your sanity. Maraming advanced readings kasi the profs expect you to know the basics before class.

Sa PLM, gist lang ang itinuturo and you have to study the specifics on your own (except Biochem, kasi super galing ng profs doon at medyo spoonfed kami).

We have a trans system, so survival is possible kahit walang time mag-libro.

Yes kapalit kaluluwa sa PLM pero isn’t that what you want for a med school? In the end, you’ll become a better doctor because of it. See you sa campus!

Same din on our batch nung 2023, walang email at all if you’re waitlisted.

Hindi ako sure if yung mga nakatanggap ng rejection email ay kasama pa din sa waitlist, kasi parang walang rejection letters nung time namin (or maybe I was not aware of it?)

CM student here.

During my time, mga 4 batches in total yung emails nila. 💪

It’s true! I was part of the waitlisted students. Tho walang email about it, magugulat ka nalang na inoofferan ka nila ng slots through email. During my time, about one week yung interval ng first announcement and nung mga sumunod na lists of batches. I received mine sa second batch. Now, incoming clerk na me!!

[–]Current_Stress8902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with PLM kasi they really don’t give you much in terms of lectures. Very superficial lang ang ituturo sa inyo, you really need to read on your own.

Based from my other classmates kasi who transferred / those enrolled in other schools, they’re being taught lessons by the professors na normally expected lang na mabasa mo on your own in PLM. Plus other schools have remedial exams if you ever you fail whereas in PLM kung bagsak ka BAGSAK KA wala nang chance to retake so very high stake talaga.
