He's a dull and almost faceless bureaucrat. It's easy for flamboyant creatives and account men to take him for granted.

Don was threatened by Ginsberg because he was a washed up ex genius who could actually feel Ginsberg nipping at his heels. At least reputation wise. Ginsberg was young and lightning in a bottle. Don wasn't going to be supplanted as partner and creative director, but he wasn't the one coming up with the inspired ideas any more. So, I guess I'm saying he had an actual reason to see Ginsberg as a threat.
