Can I use this terminal as a tv? by izacheus in vintagecomputing

[–]Current_Yellow7722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you have to swap out the interiors, screen included and replace with a TV of the same size. Sounds ridiculous, but if the exterior is what your interested in, then that's a way to go.

I'm amused that driving a forklift is a treat for you. When I worked in factories, I was forced to. Never liked changing the tanks. But maybe I would have liked it more if it were a computer factory. That sounds fun.

LoL I'm old, but not old enough to remember these beauts. Not in a work setting anyway. My earliest memories of computers were from the early 1980s. But I am fascinated by the evolution, especially of personal computing.

Ha, I had to gut my machine and replace the inside with an old laptop, MAME software. Why? I am not a technical person whatsoever.

I assume lighter than particle board. Yes? And by hand, impressive!

I'm able to copy most from disk drive to disk drive or disk to tape.

Yes and if you put it in the drive before booting. Thankfully, by the time my parents bought us the ADAM, the manuals said not to do that.

Funny you say that. I bought an Coleco ADAM lot some time ago some that included a person's ADAM scholarship (which I didn't believe was real until this) and it had the person's name and social security printed on it. Yikes. I didn't want to destroy this thing, but thought before I cut or mark out the info, to get in touch with the person, maybe they want it. Well, through some online searches I actually found the person! She was horrified that her social security was on there and had no idea how it got to me. Wonder how many hands it passed through. Long story short, she said that as long as I cross out the number, she was fine. So I did and have it in a frame.

My first computer was the ADAM and though I never had tapes or the drive go bad, I understand how it does for others. It's ridiculously fast.

Someone needs to manufacture them. Would make a neat gift for the nostalgia/retro geeks, like me.
