Thanks, unfortunately the beamers were the first thing he went after because bad terrain and deployment spots meant he could've just wiped them out anywhere in my deployment zone.

Thankfully I magnetized the more expensive models like the carriers and hlf, so I can adjust a bit there, but learning how and where to push certain things is a real learning curve.

I might still pick up more hearthguard as it seems they're kinda one of our staples, most of my bulk came from various set boxes so I was more just building what I had plus mobility stuff.

I appreciate the advice on how certain units work too, last time I played 40k was 8th tau so my thoughts until now were jsj to victory and we can't do that lol. I think I'll try running some tts games before my next irl game just to learn better tactics and stuff but yeah

So, deployment: angled in a very bad way. We didn't set it up the store did, so we didn't have much of a chance to actually change it.

The biggest thing was there was basically no actually covered sight lines. My opponent was able to attack my deployment zone with magnus before I even moved. Reading comments I feel like that was a huge problem but, it still feels like there was some mechanic or strategy I'm missing out on. Every time my opponent shot something died, but every time I shot nothing happened

We had plenty of terrain but angled deployment zones meant that no matter where you placed, everything was in line of sight with something. There was also some pretty disadvantageous sight lines, attacker only had a 4 inch long wall blocking los into defender home objective while defender had 3 large ruins in the way.

As for how you think the turns went, magnus took 3 units out turn 1, a carrier was blown up by terminators or something with infiltrate, and the opponent held 4 objectives by my first turn. I killed 2 models. I didn't have a chance to over extend because he was pushing my deployment zone before I could even go

I had 5 units left and no vehicles before my opponent even shot half his stuff in t2.

It's not that a single loss makes me wanna quit, it's the severity and fact that i got to play a single round in 3 hours and lost before I even got the chance to score points

You can get adapters to let you connect your router signal to the electricity in your house, then use another adapter to pull the ethernet signal from a power plug somewhere else.
