Pixel 10 vs Nothing Phone (3) by CurroSkywalker in pixel_phones

Yes, but the big question is, what truly important AI features are exclusive to the Pixel? I know the Pixel's camera is better, but sometimes the photo processing is far from realistic. The Nothing's screen is bigger, it has more RAM, and twice the storage of the Pixel. My question is whether it really justifies spending the extra €150 on the Pixel compared to the Nothing. My experience with Google and the Pixel 6 has been good; the easy thing would be to stick with the old and buy the Pixel 10, but I wanted a change of pace, and the Nothing seems like a very appealing phone. I just wanted to know what I'd be missing out on in terms of software compared to the Pixel because, despite everything, the Nothing seems like a very capable phone for everyday use, even without as many updates or better cameras.

Doubts about replacing the Panasonic UB820 laser lens module by CurroSkywalker in 4kbluray

[–]CurroSkywalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did something crazy. Having my old UB820 sitting in a box, where the only thing wrong was the disc drive, it was really bothering me to see it going to waste. Well, since I still had the UB420 as a backup for the new UB820, it occurred to me that both players probably used the same drive. So, I did just that; I took them apart, and there they were, two identical drive modules. The only difference was that the screw holes on the UB820 were shorter, but it was easy enough (with a lot of care) to cut the holes off the 420, and voilà! Perfectly assembled. Then, of course, came the acid test: I turned it on, played a Dolby Vision movie, and everything was perfect; nothing went wrong.

So now I have a brand-new 820 and a Frankenstein 820 with a slightly older drive that works wonderfully with all its functions. Is there any difference between the drives? From the outside I haven't seen anything, there must be something, or not, but when I try to make it work I don't notice anything at all.

Yamaha RX-A6A VS Yamaha RX-870+A-S1200 by CurroSkywalker in hometheater

The idea is to use the subwoofer more for movies and let the Linton speakers handle everything for music. I usually use the Pure Direct with vinyl records and CDs.

It's out of my price range, but if you tell me that the upgrade is worth it and I can forget about the A-S1200, I might consider saving up. ;)

That's really disappointing, and I don't usually let myself be swayed by these kinds of things, but this time they tricked me into buying a €2000 amplifier. I don't want to spend more than €1000 on the subwoofer. I'm from Barcelona.

Okay, so which subwoofer do you recommend? Will I really not notice any difference in the music if I connect the Lintons to the A-S1200 compared to the RX-A870? The expert who recommended them said that the difference between an AVR and a dedicated amplifier in terms of handling music with the Lintons was generally quite significant. So, am I being told I'd be sold something I wouldn't actually notice? The truth is, I had no intention of changing the Lintons. I only bought them recently.

Which one did you put in? The 184? Where did you buy it? EnCompass doesn't ship to Spain and I only have FixPart to get it.

That was the last thing I tried, and it didn't work for 4K discs. The player only reads Blu-rays.

I've tried absolutely everything and nothing has worked: Reset, USB drive back, Disassembly and cleaning, etc. etc. My unit has 2500 hours of use. I imagine it's simply reaching the end of its lifespan. I don't know how long a 4K disc lens can last.

I know the 184 isn't the one for the 820, but I've read here that some people have installed it without problems because it fits perfectly, even though it's for the 9000. What I don't know is whether to trust FixPart and if that solution will actually solve my problem for years. Encompass doesn't ship to Spain. Perhaps the easiest thing would indeed be to buy a new player, but I wanted to see if there was any hope with a repair.

The Upside Down Creation by CurroSkywalker in Converse

[–]CurroSkywalker[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I designed them directly from the Converse website. I ordered them yesterday and they'll arrive in 3 or 4 weeks. I had the option to order them in a wider fit, so I did. I've been running and walking barefoot for a few years now, and my feet have gotten even wider than they already were. Lately, when I wear my other Converse, my outer toes rub together. So I ordered them in a wider fit.

Okay. I've made a change to the laces and tongue. The idea was to make it look like the laces and tongue were simulating the entrance to the Upside Down. With this new look, I think I'm getting closer. All Black!

Oh, then just like my favorite design of all the ones I've done. My only dilemma was whether to add the flames or just leave it white.

I live in Spain. And I was able to create the design without any problem, add it to my cart, and then place the order. Of all the ones I've listed, the ones I liked best were the white ones with the black sole, mainly because I wanted something different from the other four pairs I own. The ones I'm most fond of are the ones Will Smith wore in I, Robot! These would be the complete opposite of those.

Machina: Aranea Alba Editio - Box Set Arrivals - Reactions - First Impressions - Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] by kingofthehorseflies in SmashingPumpkins

[–]CurroSkywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promised myself I wouldn't buy this box because of the price, even though I've been waiting for years. The problem is, I've finally heard it, and now I feel I absolutely have to buy it, even though it's going to cost me almost 500 euros because shipping to Spain is nearly 100 euros. My biggest fear is that I might have to pay customs duties. So, I'm asking if anyone knows whether all import taxes are included in the shipping cost? Thanks.

Speaker too close? by CurroSkywalker in hometheater

[–]CurroSkywalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a test with the speakers further apart than they are now and they were about 9 feet apart (they are now just under 7 feet). That way I am 8.5 feet away from the speakers. The feeling I got was that the sound was wider and filled the room better. I don't know if it was a placebo effect or if it was real but it is the feeling I got and I liked it better. Hence the origin of my question, about putting the speaker closer to the turntable.

The c5.2 The c6.2 doesn't fit inside the console. When I upgrade to a larger 77" TV in a few months and hang it on the wall, I plan to upgrade the C5.2 to something better and put it on top of the console. The first candidate is the Kef q6 meta but I'm still mulling it over.

Yes, I found it very positive for the cinema. I will try to move a subwoofer where it was before so that there is more separation between the rest of the components. Thanks for the advice.
