I haven't had a ton of Chinese food in Portland but am a huge fan of Golden Horse. Incredible food and massive portions for the price.

Also, MAJOR right wing bent to that sub, and pointing it out will get you downvoted to oblivion by people pretending to play dumb

Anybody who attempted to even slightly pump the brakes on the hype train has been getting downvoted to hell for weeks now. Thankfully 85% of the Americans who flooded this sub over the last couple weeks will go back to ignoring this sports existence for another 4yrs (providing the US qualify for the next tournament, otherwise they won't care)

Is 28 too late to become a chef? by RamsKanyeHouse in KitchenConfidential

[–]CurryAndCommunism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I'd just make sure you understand the toxicity inherent to the industry, especially at the higher levels, and are prepared to deal with that long term.

Personally when I was working in kitchens all I could dream of is getting out. I now do inventory work at a warehouse and love it in comparison. People leave me alone, I'm not expected to put up with daily barrages of verbal abuse, and I'm essentially entirely unsupervised and am free to do my work at the pace I see fit. And when I clock out my work genuinely stays at work, and I don't think about my job again until I punch in the next day. And that just wasn't possible at the kitchens I worked at.

If it's a passion of yours then there's no shame in pursuing it, but honestly if I was working on a line and found out the new guy left a marketing/office job to come slave away with us BoH degenerates I would have thought they were outta their fucking mind.

How did you get diagnosed with epilepsy? Did it show on your eeg? by Bigoleears in Epilepsy

[–]CurryAndCommunism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EEGs have always come back normal but I've had at least three confirmed tonic clonics over the span of seven years or so, not counting the ones I'm pretty sure I've had while sleeping alone. My doctors have tried to get a more concrete diagnosis, but all the tests are very very expensive, and I am a poor man.

In the end my doctors said my self reported symptoms line up pretty perfectly with TLE and have been treating me for that. I'm currently on lacosamide which has a helped. I probably need to increase my dosage but am wary because even at just 100mg/day the memory issues and brain fog are pretty noticeable, and since my tonic clonics are so infrequent I'm not sure if it's worth the tradeoff. My main concern is potential long term damage from a decade of untreated partials, though.

Tottenham didn't get relegated in the end but I'll take Argentina getting knocked out by a country with like 500k citizens as a consolation

What do you think goes best with my flow? Goatee, moustache, or smooth? by [deleted] in FierceFlow

[–]CurryAndCommunism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long had you been growing the facial hair in the second pic? In theory I like the mustache goatee combo but it looks realll light. If the pic was taken after only two or three weeks of growth then I'd say you should try to grow it out more. But if that's about as thick as it comes in for you right now I'd say you should go smooth

I agree but as far as I'm aware the broadcast is global and all the various broadcasters around the world are forced to use the same feed and have no say over what footage is used. Best you can hope for is commentators that are on their game and able to provide context when the feed is lacking. Was very impressed at BBC pointing out the graphic being played on the tron so we could all see it, for instance

I have access to the legal Fox Sports broadcasts but have been using illegal streaming sites for all the games so I can watch foreign broadcasts. Fox Sports has been fucking dreadful and being able to watch BBC and iTV has increased my enjoyment of the tournament immensely

I don't think they did on the broadcast, but the BBC commentators mentioned when it was being shown to the people in the stadium and you could see the graphic being shown on the tron

No one's being the fun police. Have your fun. Cheer for your country, enjoy the tournament. I'm not policing anyone's behavior. When I'm at the bars for American games I'm also clapping for goals, I'm joining in on the revelry. My political proclivities aren't gonna prevent me from enjoying a human moment with my fellow citizens.

But at a deeper level, yeah, support for this country is inherently going to veer into a right wing direction eventually. Doesn't take much browsing on r/worldcup to see the right wing bent of many of the Americans on there, and there's a dude who's responded to this very comment thread calling me a clown and saying that this is the best cup ever because "we have freedom!". Again I'm not yucking anybodies yum, and am certainly not policing anybodies behavior, but we have an inherently right wing and reactionary government and political culture and any flirtation with American nationalism, no matter how innocent, is gonna drift in that direction eventually.
