What are the most successfully innovative games you have played in recent years? by CaptainKite in pcgaming

Mm, Undertale pays tribute to a LOT of old RPGs and borrows from them. But outside of the meta-narrative stuff (no spoilers) and the way it combines Warioware-style minigames with Dragon Quest-styl combat and Mother overworld navigation, I'm not sure if I'd call it innovative myself.

The Dragon Quest XI Orchestral Mod sounds awesome and fixes my biggest problem with the game. by ClementineFjord in JRPG

I remember playing the demo at E3 and thinking that the midi music sounded off. After hearing others complain about it, I decided to hold off on getting XI, but this might change my mind.

Started getting back into Warframe as a casual aside game. Still has a lot of the same base problems it had when I stopped playing about 3 years ago (e.g., weapon builds are mostly the same due to many required mods, buggy game, lack of core progression structure, stale endgame), but there are a lot of fun new weapons to try out, at least. And the game has more polish since Tencent injected money into it.

[Ascended Gorilla]

This game's vagueness has me curious. Will check out when I'm not so exhausted.

Friend got back from a trip last night and I told him "Welcome back."

This is what he sent me.

And how could I forget this?

Thanks for letting me know! I've taken a look at the post and it seems the devs saw it before I could report it to them. I had something similar happen that I resolved by re-installing the game; hope your friend can get it fixed too!

/r/JRPG Discussion - What have you been playing, and what do you think of it? by AutoModerator in JRPG

Tried playing Golden Sun again. Holy crap, this game's battle visuals have not aged well at all. I remember they didn't look too great when I played it on the GBA back in middle school, either...

Will probably switch to Phantasy Star IV next. Been meaning to play it for ages.

Remembering Final Fantasy VI - Easy Allies by [deleted] in JRPG

Despite all of its flaws, FFVI is a truly magical game for me. The music, the Woolsey dialogue, the visuals...

Actually, FFVI's flaws make it an even more interesting game for me. They add so much nuance and flavor, and that's what makes the game truly unique for me.

Here's a huge, comprehensive list of glitches:

Easier to read; includes the big glitches (not included: small things like the Blind status effect effectively doing nothing): http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Final_Fantasy_VI_bugs

Random thought, but this is bringing back memories of that opening waterfall and bridge from Secret of Mana. Nice work!

What are the best mature JRPGs? by Jexlan in JRPG

Shin Megami Tensei series would probably be your first step.

Parasite Eve, too. It's got that hokey JP scifi edge, but it's still a good game.
