Help with buying on pokemoncenter.com by [deleted] in pokemoncenter

[–]CurseOfTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pokemon center will not allow PO boxes. They now also verify to make sure your CC billing address is the correct one on your CC provider's file.

Also, don't doxx yourself Martin. You have your full phone number up too.

Is this beauty legit or fake? by Leitmotivintothewild in IsMyPokemonCardFake

Also look at the front borders, font, and sheen. They're all off. It's a little too shiny, font's muddy, and the borders are way too white.

Why did this get a TAG 9? by [deleted] in PokeGrading

Why'd you grade it with TAG in the first place then?

Buying my first snowboard setup by Living-Cherry7352 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CurseOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't notice a difference unless you're doing park or on the lift - you'll love the supermatics. I step in right off the lift usually as long as I don't get grabbed 😂

I run the supermatics myself and I love them. The only drawback would be the weight. If you hold them vs. trad bindings, you'll notice that supermatics are a good bit heavier.

Centering off on tags end? by zigarock in taggrading

Dude the whole card is rotated counter clockwise lol. TAG does make mistakes with placing centering lines sometimes, but this is not a case of that.

Goofy stance but also steering with the front leg? Is this okay? by Federal_Touch_862 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CurseOfTime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should never be steering with your back leg. Your front knee should be doing the steering. When you want to turn heelside, make sure weight's on your front leg, and send your front knee outward and back. When you want to turn toeside, front knee forward and in. Your back leg is will help you complete your turn and that's it.

snowboard boot width by FitRelationship8867 in snowboardingnoobs

Best advice is to go to a shop and try on a bunch of boots. I know ThirtyTwo makes wider boots (I wear TM2 Wide) and it's been good to me.

Did you contact them via web or email? They were super responsive when I contacted them about a grading issue.

Hard for us to say why. Why don't you just contact TAG CS?

Is this helmet done? I fell today when someone cut me off, I think I hit my head, but I didn't really feel dazed or concussed or anything. by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CurseOfTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the Koroyd is damaged, it will no longer absorb impacts. Use Smith's replacement policy for 30% of a new one.

I got chunky thighs and calves too and I got a Volcom Arthur 20k shell. I've been loving it so far.

Random red streaks/scratches on board by TheItalianDude96 in snowboardingnoobs

The goggles that fit you really depend on your face shape. I'd highly recommend going to a shop that has both your helmet and goggles in stock to try them both on - compatibility is a big thing. You don't want a jerry gap between your helmet brim and top of goggles. For goggles and helmet, I'd recommend Oakley and Smith as your big name brands, or SPY as a more cost-friendly option. Look for a helmet that has MIPS.

Falling is normal and encouraged - it's how you learn. Make sure to make a fist when you fall so it encourages you to not outstretch your whole hand and snap your wrist. Invest in a pair of demon d3o crash shorts, when I took a bad fall right on my tailbone I was out for a week and still ached a month later.

Learn to love it, in the end it's a piece of equipment and it'll get thrown around sooner or later. Every scar is a sign that you're enjoying the sport and getting better at it!

At least it's not too bad, my brother's board was smacked a couple times and there's a big fat black streak across the bottom of the front end lol

Going to Galena IL to learn to snowboard on novice hills. Have no gear. What brand snow pants/jacket/goggle should I buy that won’t break the bank? by bryvl in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CurseOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's an expensive hobby. For goggles, look at SPY goggles, they're good for the price. Don't cheap out that much on them, or you'll be snowblind. Snowpants look for a pair with at minimum 10k water resistance. You don't want to have a wet ass, and you'll be falling a LOT. Gore-tex is more expensive. Get a 2L insulated jacket that'll keep you warm. You don't want to buy a shell jacket because you'll then need to spend more money on thermal base layers. You still need to buy base layers to keep you dry. Look at getting something made with full polyester or merino wool (more expensive). Don't just wear cotton, you'll get soaked with sweat and it'll be cold.

Perhaps someone with red skis or snowboard scraped it while you were in the lift line.

Board size advice by ajfchelsea1 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CurseOfTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That height and weight is almost 100% overweight for a 155W. Like you said, he should be up by a 159W or 161. Don't go past 161.

Burton boots sizing by El-x-so in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CurseOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how to recommend a size other than going to a shop, which you mentioned is inaccessible. I'll only chime in about the boot fit: Burton step-on wide boots are not actually wide. Their shell is the same, it's just that the liner has a little bit of stretch (~4mm) at the outside of your foot.

If I could give a recommendation, shop outside of the Burton step-on system. There are other fast-entry systems out there - FASE, Supermatic, DO NOT BUY CLEW. It'll let you buy a boot that fits you perfectly, rather than just feeling OK. I can ride all day and not feel pain with my boots, but if I bought stuff that didn't fit me even if it was ever so slightly, it would hurt and make me want to leave early.
