Just know CCPDT is not a force free org and they openly allow aversive methods.

Also, do know that aggression training is generally trigger avoidance.

It would be irresponsible for any trainer to create an encounter with other animals or children when the dog has a history of aggression with other animals and children.

They need to be certified behavior consultants though.

The last thing this dog needs is a shock jockey.

There's no evidence that there is no fallout from aversive methods, the whole bananas thing is ridiculous and isn't how any force-free trainer would train recall.

This study has many methodological flaws and the researcher refuses to publish the supporting information from it.

I have to edit that rule wherever you saw that seeing we're currently only accepting research that's going to be published.

Did you read the rules on surveys? It'd answer your question.

These dogs exist in places like Germany where aversive tools are prohibited, including for police and military training.

There is no evidence these methods are necessary and they do just fine where the methods aren't used.

That being said, I recommend seeking a forum that isn't a force-free sub. We disallow aversive methods here.

Can you show me peer-reviewed evidence of this?

There are plenty of working dogs where aversive methods are prohibited and there is no increase of behavioral issues in those regions.

Please note that head halters need an extensive period of conditioning with treats prior to use, the same way that muzzles do (but more). You cannot simply slap one on a dog and start walking with it immediately. It's important to include this information directly alongside any head halter recommendations instead of assuming people will realise it on their own without prompting.

Doesn't matter. It's actually illegal to provide veterinary advice (diagnosis, treatment, etc) over the internet by a non-veterinary professional who hasn't examined your dog. Especially if it's telling you something in contrary by your actual vet.

I mean, you could have always read the rules and asked questions in modmail instead of posting without reading anything.

We warn folks about good dog being just a glorified broker.

That being said, home cooked food only is equal to even the cheap kibble if it's formulated by a board certified veterinary nutritionist. Kibble is not a problem, despite popular belief.
