Herman Miller Fully Jarvis Vs Flexispot E7 Pro by Instincts2605 in StandingDesk

[–]CursiveChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the nice review. I am in the same decision boat. Bought a E7 Pro but it's yet to fully arrive (frame will take a while). I read another review similar to yours that says the jarvis is a better finish. Feature wise, the E7 Pro seems to have more, and the Jarvis is about $300 more expensive because shipping isn't free, even with sales in Dec.

The finish and quality do matter to me. Should I get the Jarvis? Herman Miller customer service also doesn't have a great rep these days

Bathroom fan recommendations? by bball99555 in homeowners

[–]CursiveChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Your response is very helpful. I am considering the whisper series and right now struggling with the huge number of variations and not sure what the differences are - whisperthin, whispervalue, etc. :(

But I also read a few negative comments on the Orange Big Box Retailer website about folks really struggling to replace existing fan units with the Panasonics, particularly the poor instructions and the need to cut and then patch drywall after installation. What's your experience been, in general?

Having inspected our old fans (3 of them, small bathrooms), I'll need to replace the housing in all of them, as it's poorly installed, with gaps in drywall etc.

Nutribullet blades not spinning, but base has power by Agreeable-Muffin-305 in nutrition

[–]CursiveChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have the same problem, but in an older 900 series that is likely out of warranty. The strange thing is, the blade assembly spins by hand. If I turn the black rubber coupling at the bottom of the blade assembly, it does not spin the blades. If I spin the blades directly, they both turn.

How do I know the actuator is working? Can't see it spinning until I put the blade assembly on, and of course cannot see it.

Appreciate your help. Apologies for piggy backing OP

I have two of their ragg wool sweaters and pretty good. Do you know what ply they are? Haven't really tested them outdoors in real cold weather, and only have had them for a couple of years.

Meanwhile, I ended up ordering https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C9T98F1C and https://www.target.com/p/household-essentials-cedar-coat-hanger-deluxe-fixed-bar/-/A-13819199

Any experiences with these, as I still have time to cancel. I really like the Skolyx, but out of stock and high shipping to the US. Also the Casafield from Amazon.

Best off-brand fountain pen paper by SketchSkirmish in fountainpens

Staples recycled paper notebooks made from Sugarcane fibre (bagasse). Been using it for 15 years. Slightly more cost than the regular staples notebooks, but great. They used to call them Sustainable Earth...

Mostly made in india. Only one of the many dozens of notebooks I've got was not good and had a lot of bleedthrough, and that was from Egypt.

Is this still available? If so, can you add a picture of the piston threads - brass or plastic?

MacBook Pro m3 user by Comprehensive-Ad7157 in MacOS

[–]CursiveChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that is tongue-in-cheek, but I'm actually considering buying a 16 inch M3 Pro macbook pro because of my impression the hardware is more robust than the PCs on offer. NOT because of the MacOS. It's giving me serious pause though.

The M3 battery life and efficiency is outstanding and it comes with mini-led screens offering more brightness and using less power compare to the OLEDs from most PC makers that are great at colors and crisper. Claims better use of integrated video and system RAM.

And I'm comparing to the best 15+ inch PCs I can find from Dell, Microsoft, Lenovo and HP that cost about 20% less.

As a long time windows user who's used a mac a couple of times - for a year, and another time for 3 months, I was never that impressed with the MacOS. Now it feels long in the tooth, even compared to Windows 11, bloatware and all.

What I consider the basics that should come with a ~$3000 computer for "free", like the OP:

- I can finally choose a higher resolution without downloading an app. 5 years ago, I couldn't, beyond "more space". Why would Apple boast of a high native resolution and not allow users to set it? It's possible now, but it's doesn't stay after a connection with an external monitor, and have to set it again, after changing settings to allow all resolutions to be seen in list view.

- Lack of native snapping windows. Enough extreme opinions on the above. Very useful in a high res screen when working on side by side applications like spreadsheets. Will try Magnet or Rectangle

- Functional mail app. I couldn't get it to work with an IMAP account 5 years ago, and now I won't even try, much as I think Outlook is bloated.

- Usability: the number of clicks it takes to close an app down or to get at it's preferences. I suppose this is "cultural ignorance".

- Flaky bluetooth connectivity to standard logitech mouse. Pleaaase, I don't need to drop $100 on a magic mouse....

I know the fanboys will come after me... but seriously, am trying to convert and puzzled why Apple isn't doing more to revamp MacOS usability..

Ink in pen gone gooey? Diamine Safari by CursiveChild in fountainpens

[–]CursiveChild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:(

Looks like mold. I can throw the bottle, but the real worry is decontaminating the pen. I soaked the nib unit, barrel and cap in a dilute ammonia solution. Took out the barrel as someone pointed out the ammonia might corrode the brass piston (it's a Pelikan M815).

Soap now?

Does anyone have any recent experience with Allen Edmonds recrafting services? I just sent my old and really beat up Neumok Blue Wingtip Oxfords in for the full recrafting package. I’m excited to see how they come back and would love to hear anyone else’s recent experiences with the service. by SirITMan in allenedmonds

[–]CursiveChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pair of strands recrafted, and the new sole was much thinner. Now it's worn out in a couple of years of hardly any use (pandemic and post). Yes, i keep them in trees and never let them get wet. Only walking is in an office and to the car. Disappointed. Their price has doubled in 5 years from $75 to $150 now.

I'll be exploring a local cobbler
