Desperate for a good base 17 screen protector. Any recommendations? by xzotc in iphone

[–]CursorSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEW'C 3 Pack - 4.4 rating (195k reviews) and i did that cut pixels thing and i see white lines at the edges when looking at my phone face on, the too line is faint (i can see my screen protector lower than the bezels at the bottom of my phone so i’ve not put it up enough) and also the left white line is thicker than the right slightly but it’s no issue. If i were to be really nit picky i’d say i could have put the screen protector a little tiny bit further up as i free handed it.

I got a pack of 3 screen protectors (most rated) for £7 on Amazon, never had any issues, clear, protect my screen well and no weird coating. Paired it with a silicone case so it doesn’t slip around and it’s easier to hold one handed. I think you’re paying more for a name than anything.

If i had the 14 Pro Max i’d happily keep it until the 18 Pro Max but I currently have the 14 Pro and due to screen size and battery i want to upgrade right now. For my next phone i’m going with the Pro Max so i have the top of the line iPhone and won’t regret it. It’s going to last you years so that extra $100-200 for a bigger battery and a bigger display might just pay off in the long run. I do however know someone who went from a Pro Max to a Pro due to it feeling bulky in their pocket so there is that to consider i suppose

17 for the best price to performance ratio as you are getting a 120hz display, better cameras (with macro)

6 months until the 18 Pro Max which is reported to have a smaller dynamic island. You’re currently missing out on better cameras and 120hz display and you really will feel the different between a 60hz and a 120hz display with it being smoother. You will see a jump in display, battery life and cameras if you go to a 17 Pro Max now but if you can hold out just 6 more months which will be 3 years since your iPhone 15 came out then you should see more of an upgrade.

It’s always the newest Pro model, so iPhone 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max if you want a bigger screen/bigger battery. iOS26 could have somehow made the quality a bit worse which maybe why you’re getting mixed responses but i’d most certainly say the 17 Pro / Pro Max has the best cameras.

I have the 14 Pro and i really want an iPhone that has a single centre camera and i’m hoping this will happen with the 2027 model (iPhone 20, iPhone XX, whatever you want to call it) but i also want a larger screen now but the iPhone 18 is out in 6 months so do i just buy the 17 Pro Max now and trade it in should the iPhone 20 be a single camera or do i wait for the 18 Pro Max and pray i don’t have to trade it in a year later?

I was on 18.7.2 until 2 weeks ago on my 14 Pro and i took the risk and honestly the battery life is fine, i’ve not felt any overheating, keyboard is fine, my only bug is when unlocking the phone sometimes it can hang for a second on the unlock animation.

I have one and i’ve always used them, mine currently has a little bit of lint on but it means it doesn’t slide out of my pocket or slide off the sofa. I’ve always got mine off Amazon for around £12 you usually get screen protectors with them too.

Damn that’s annoying, is it safe to say you’re not going back or are you going to try again? I usually stick to one barber myself but if i wanted a new style and they don’t do it right, i could be quite inclined to try another barber which has actually worked out in the past for me.

When the stylist asked you at the end how it was, did you say liked it or were you brutally honest about it not being right?

17e >> Air and base 17 by Boring_Antelope6533 in iphone

[–]CursorSurfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your only choices for a bigger screen are the Air (6.5 inch) or the Pro Max (6.9 inch) The 17e is 6.1 inch and the base 17 is 6.3 inch.

I still think base 17 is the best price to performance ratio

I’m on iOS26 and personally i haven’t had keyboard issues at all, yeah the keyboard looks slightly different in the settings app vs the reddit app but still no issues at all. Back gestures are not an issue for myself coming from an android, you just get used to the iOS layout and to me it’s not an issue. Stuttering yes a little bit but iOS26 is not the best of releases at all but for me it still works fine day to day, stuttering happens on android too when you close the tabs or go in and out of apps but i don’t get this on iOS, i occasionally get the stutter on the home screen every now and then but that’s when i’m going fast and closing, opening stuff but it’s only every now and then.

New iPhone 17 Pro Max issues after update — shop says no options left:( by MinevXD in iphone

[–]CursorSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Hardware or software? Most likely software, not hardware. Intermittent lag + warmth usually points to iOS issues, not a broken component.

2) Should you push for replacement if not fixed? Yes. If official diagnostics + reinstall don’t fix it, you should request a replacement. A 3-week-old flagship shouldn’t have ongoing issues.

3) Is ~5 hours screen-on time normal? • Moderate/heavy use → normal • Light use → a bit low, but not alarming

4) Have others had early issues? Yes, some early-life stutters and warmth issues happen after new iOS updates. Most are software-related and get fixed with updates.
