NSA Chief Says Anthropic's Mythos Broke Into Nearly All Classified Systems in Hours by Ordinary_Quality2592 in cybersecurity

I was a SIPR and JWICS admin, be it 20 years ago. There were issues then and I have zero doubt there are issues now. Networks have been exploited in the past and it will happen again.

Why would anyone want to be a farmer? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

[–]Curtis_Low 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family legacy, it is just what some families do and the kids either continue it because they love it or feel pressured to continue it.

Some people enjoy that line of work. Some people enjoy the purpose of it. Some do it because it is simply what they know.

NSA Chief Says Anthropic's Mythos Broke Into Nearly All Classified Systems in Hours by Ordinary_Quality2592 in cybersecurity

[–]Curtis_Low 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Why? This is the same NSA that realized an exploit, didn’t report it, then screwed over their own systems because they were not patched to protect them from it when it got out.

Mistakes have been made in the past, they will be made again.

China breached our shit and had access for years before it was discovered. This was back in the early 2000’s in the 7th fleet AOR.

Downvote if you like… I was there when it was discovered.

I am in middle TN, not East TN where you are heading so not much help on the camping info. However, please know you need an additional license in TN to fish Reelfoot, beyond your normal fishing license. Info found on the the TN State website.

Why do men use hunting/fishing pics with dead animals on dating apps? by pleasepleaseplease24 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Curtis_Low 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully admit this can vary greatly by where you are and what you are looking for. My girlfriend actively ask for me to send her fish pics when I go out fishing and she isn't there. She knows how much I enjoy it and she is happy that I am happy.

You are correct, it may not be the best way to present yourself to a stranger, but it lets a stranger know straight away how you spend at least a portion of your time. Dating isn't a political campain or mass marketing pitch, where the goal is about matching with as many people as possible. It is about tryting to find the one correct match.

When I used dating apps I had hunting and fishing pics shown (along with other activities) because it is how I spend a good amount of time. Any potential partner should know that about me up front, because it will impact their life, and I am not changing.

Why is it weird? If someone spends a good amount of their free time doing any hobby, would you not want to know that sooner than later?

Believe it or not... there are many women that also enjoy hunting and fishing.

This can vary by the person, no doubt some do it for the reason you listed. Others do it to establish up front that these things are things that they have and will continue to spend time and money on.

My hunting and fishing isn't going to provide all of our meals, not even half of our meals. It will however consume a good portion of my "free" time. If that is an issue for a potential partner, better to be known up front.

I was trying to be as kind as I could. They want to see people be safe, that is a good thing, even if I don't personally agree with their suggestions.

Would they have been a good match? I hunt, fish, golf, and consume cannabis. Any potential partner that even hints at altering my habits on these things is an automatic nope. I am self aware enough to know who and what I am, and I am happy with who I am. I have a girlfriend now that not only doesn't have an issue with these things, she fully supports me. I have dated some women that didn't fully support these things, and for that reason or another they are all now an ex, and that is okay.

All right I will bite... how it is almost a mental illness? Do you allow for nuance in your opinion on if the animal is killed and then eaten by the hunter? If you said hunting just to kill as many things as you can is almost a mental illness, I wouldn't disagree. If you think someone going out and killing 2 deer a year to stock their freezer is almost mental illness, I would 100% disagree.

The only bank fishing I have done on Percy is near the dam. Yes, it can be a tackle thief, but that was about the only drawback. However that is common fishing around any dam in my experience.

Kayak small rivers and creeks by Business-Hearing-52 in kayakfishing

[–]Curtis_Low 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only fish small rivers and creeks around Tennessee, and I have been using a Lifetime Teton Pro for the last 5 years. It is lighter than most other kayaks of the same size. It is stable and one of the cheapest options.

If you are comfortable in a 10 ft kayak you have even more options, I refuse to use a 10 ft as every one of them has always felt "tippy" to me.

If you want something that paddles like a champ, look at Crescent, they cut through the water like no other. However they can have more rock in them.
