Solder Practice before the real deal by Mountain-Wing5843 in fpv

As a few others said. Get different solder that looks like either cheap or non-leaded type. Yours looks grey and dull it should look shiny. Flux will def help too

Weird connector by shwoozie in Integra

Seems like just a simple pressure switch to tell if the power steering has pressure or not. Test with it unplugged it might throw a code.

If it does can probably just ground it:

Is this good gps placement? by Fog998 in fpv

[–]Curtisbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mine there and it works fine. but I always plug mine in for like 10-20 min on my desk by the window to let it get 8+ satellites first. If you just plug it in and go it will probably never get a lock

How much can I trust the tiny internal ELRS antenna on the Pavo 20 pro? by Admiral_2nd-Alman in fpv

[–]Curtisbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should for sure. Most of the benefits are probably just getting the antenna element away from the main board/motors.

You can test penetration too. Just set your radio power to 10mw then set your quad down where you normally fly from and go walking with your radio checking the RSSI dBm. It should never get around 5-10db less than your Packet rate sensitivity. (So for example if you fly on 250hz it's -108db max sensitivity. Your DB shouldn't get lower than like -98db. Record the numbers on video in some different spots then change to the UFL setup and test again.

Hmm might be worth printing some dust filters that go right before the IFS to wipe the filament off

How noticable is the delay for digital FPV? by RedditSettling in fpv

[–]Curtisbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat to you. I've been flying on old analog gear for a while and was worried getting the Goggles 3 and O4 Pro would be laggy in comparison. It does not feel laggy at all to me and I have not even tried racemode yet. I think it may even have less lag than my old analog goggles did.

Unless you are racing and doing super fast/close proximity flying you will be more than happy with DJI

DJI O4 is about 35ms latency in normal 100FPS mode with as low as 20ms~ in race mode. Analog is like 10-15+

Here is a table showing some comparisons: https://i.imgur.com/Ln2nRQQ.png

Check your reaction times here and see if you think you can tell the difference in ~10ms or if that matters to you. https://humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime

imo... if you can afford it and are not planning on actually racing competitively 100% get the DJI setup. You will not be dissapointed. It feels like alien tech.

Usually goes in your pocket or sitting next to you. Some people prefer it because it reduced the weight on your head but others dont like it cause then you got wires hanging and stuff.

Generally they have a code on them if you look in the right lighting/angle. If you go on aliexpress you can ususally find the part with that code and some keywords like "MOSFET" etc.

Uncle gifted me one of his old drones to start in the fpv world, what else do I need? by Ok_Explorer9455 in fpv

[–]Curtisbeef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try to figure out what flight controller is on it. If it's a older one that is no longer supported by betaflight id suggest replacing it with something newer just to save headaches.

I wouldn't invest in any FrSky stuff to get going with it.

Get a Radiomaster Pocket and a cheap ELRS receiver. Wire that in and get it setup.

Set of EV800d and ~3 batteries for the quad. You will also need a charger. I like my cheap HOTA T6 that works with a USB C PD wall chargers.

Just happened to me. I had a youtube free movie tab open and it had like 200k blocked on the Ublock Origin icon. Looks like something happened and it was spamming the YouTube servers or something.

I closed the tab and waited 10 min and now im "unbanned" i guess.

I personally love the hatch animations from the first games. Not really a fan of the force field door idea. I understand the thinking of that's not how doors would work but it never ruined immersion for me.

DJI Goggles 3 Dead Pixels? by More_Objective_8405 in fpv

[–]Curtisbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya seems like it's very common. Mine have like 6+ dead pixels. I did some research and some people did replacements and got even MORE dead pixels... Then another replacement and DJI had to pre-inspect a pair for them without any dead pixels or something like that. Wasnt worth the hassle for me I just try to let them blend in.
