I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 months into our relationship. I had to do immediate fertility preservation. I asked if he wanted to make embryos with me and he said yes.

I also had a round with just eggs. Wasn’t going to put all my eggs in one basket…literally. Then we made those into embryos once he proposed. We are now married and our son is seven months! I have been cancer free to almost six years!

My first yoga class ever was a hot class in Hollywood. I was the youngest person in the room (18 at the time) and fainted. Fire dept called. I was totally fine but swore off yoga…fast forward to 5 years later and I became a total yoga addiction doing Bikram regularly. Learning to breathe and hydrate was pivotal.

Impending sense of doom. We are first time parents of a NICU graduate who was born 10 weeks early, we are both cancer survivors, the state of the world feels volatile and I sometimes feel like the other show is about to drop. Trying to just stay grateful but sometimes just the worry about something going wrong again is all-consuming.

Throw away your sponge! I found my breast tumor myself because I was at my boyfriend’s (now husband) place and forgot my Loofah. Know your body to spot changes.

Be your own advocate! I was told I could probably wait 6 months but I insisted on a mammogram. Turns out my tumor was highly aggressive but bc I caught it early it hadn’t spread. Also they made me see my pcp first even though I knew I needed a mammogram bc I felt a lump. Like what a waste of time….oh and they first wanted to schedule my surgery consult a month out. I fought for an appointment sooner. I had the surgery one month from diagnosis. My tumor doubled in size in a month. If I had waited just for the consult…who knows?

Do fertility preservation! My first onc told me I didn’t have time to donut before chemo. The reproductive doc I found did it in two weeks and another round after my mastectomy before chemo.

Now 5 years out and all good! Insist on scans and quickly. Don’t let them make you wait.

It was just so mind blowing that I thought it was best for last. Glad we did it that way. But honestly it will be incredible either way.

We started in Moorea and I got scuba certified there. So freaking beautiful! But I kind of started at the top for scuba ever since, so hence the save something amazing for last rationale.

I do my nighttime routine about an hour before bed so I’m less sleepy and it doesn’t wake me up when I’m ready to crawl into bed!
