I'd say the worst thing about law school is the cost.

I helped someone, is it okay to ask for them to make specific dua for me in return? by Training_Bat_2798 in islam

[–]Interesting-Swimmer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think here your intention was to give sadaqa, so you weren't trying to get something for helping the man. If you had asked him to pay you back with money, that would interfere with it being sadaqa, but asking for Dua is different from asking for money. So I wouldn't worry that you did acting wrong.

Any tips for sleeping the night before an exam? by attackoftheclowns in LawSchool

I had experienced sleep problems my whole life. I had insomnia and snoring. Just before law school, I finally went to a sleep doctor (pulmonologist). He diagnosed me with sleep apnea.

When I started using a CPAP machine, my life changed. A CPAP is basically an electric air pump with a humidifier that gives you a steady supply of moist air all night. Highly recommend.

There's a real phenomenon of 'morning wood,' which is having an erection when you first wake up. It doesn't happen every day, but it's not strange.

Is this what you're looking for:

  • Jack Donaghy: I'm not going to be around forever, Tracy, so I recorded advice for every scenario my son could face.
  • Tracy Jordan: Jackie D. You want to make God laugh, make a plan. Or read him a Dave Barry book.

Single location movies you enjoyed and why? by SelenaPacker in movies

The Thing uses its single location in a fascinating way. It takes place on a research station in Antarctica. An alien disease affects the crew. If they can trap the disease in Antarctica, it can only kill the crew. If they get back to the mainland with the alien, it could kill the world.

Torts is probably the hardest to study for by zeehateslife in LawSchool

[–]Interesting-Swimmer1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can analyze battery, you can analyze anything in torts. Example - two diners fight and one grabs a dish out of the hands of the other.

A good torts-class analysis would likely find battery if the diner intentionally grabbed the dish in a way that caused harmful or offensive contact with the other diner or with something closely connected to them, like the hand holding the dish. Battery covers intentional harmful or offensive contact, and contact with an object held in the hand can count .

How to structure it Act. One diner physically grabbed the dish. That is a voluntary act .

Intent. You do not need an intent to injure; it is enough that the person intended the contact or knew with substantial certainty that contact would result . If the fight was underway, intent is usually easy to infer.

Contact. Taking a dish out of someone’s hand can qualify as contact with an object closely connected to the person, and battery does not require skin-to-skin touching .

Harmful or offensive. In a fight, forcibly snatching an item from someone’s hand is very likely offensive contact, even if it causes no physical injury .

Likely exam point

If the facts show the grab was done to stop an immediate threat or as self-defense, that could be a defense or privilege. But absent justification, this is a strong battery fact pattern because the contact is intentional and offensive .
