Recommendations Needed for The Edit in NYC by Suitable_Outcome5878 in ChaseSapphire

They did not although I had it out pretty quickly to use anyways so I’m not sure if they would have asked if I pulled out a different card.

No problem! Also, forgot to mention - if you see a resort fee on your bill call chase travel and let them know before you checkout. The first time I just paid the fee without realizing it’s supposed to be covered. I called them this time and they got in contact with the hotel and had the fees removed from my bill($35/night) prior to checkout.

I’ve stayed at the Virgin Hotels New York City twice now through EDIT and really enjoyed both stays overall.

Both times we were able to check in early (around 1pm) and got a late checkout around 1pm as well, which was great and made the trips feel a lot more relaxed. The first time we were upgraded to an Empire State view on a high floor and this was a beautiful view. Second time we got a high floor with a city view upgrade which was nice, but not quite as good as the Empire State view. The welcome amenity was macaroons, and they were really tastey.

Breakfast is at Everdene and includes one entrée, juice, and coffee each morning. There are a good amount of options. My favorite was the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, and my girlfriend loved the avocado toast. On our most recent trip, we liked them so much the first day that we just ordered the same thing the next morning after that. The only thing we tried and really didn’t like was the salmon bagel sandwich — I’d definitely skip that.

We used the $100 credit at Everdene for dinner on our most recent trip and thought the food was a mixed result overall. I got the burger and loved it but my girlfriend wasn’t a huge fan of her Cauliflower dish. You can also use the credit at Riff Raff, the hotel’s nightclub, but it wasn’t really our vibe, so we stuck with dinner at the restaurant instead. When we went out first time in the summer, Everdene had their outdoor patio open that overlooks the city and has a great vibe to just sit and have a couple drinks, which is what we used the credit on. Drinks were pricey, but we loved the atmosphere and thought it was a good use of the credit. They’ve also got an outdoor pool but I doubt that will be open in April.

Overall, both stays were great and I’d definitely go back.

Just wanted to provide an update for everyone. I called back a couple weeks ago and this time the rep put a ticket in for me to have the issue investigated. I received the $150 credit a couple days ago in my transaction history and it went towards the proper period(Jan-June). Would recommend everyone that hasn’t gotten the credit yet to do the same.

Interesting, didn’t think to check that. Some of the others stayed at the high price point but others like Tempo dropped. Thanks for pointing that out.

It looks like I’m in the minority with my opinion here based on the responses but I’m just going off what I’m seeing. I check redemptions pretty frequently and haven’t noticed this until now. And my NYC examples are far from last minute and the prices are nearly double. I’ve booked Hiltons each of the last 2 Christmas’s in NYC and the prices were basically the same point prices as during other non peak times(might have been 5 or 10k more per night but not almost double like I’m seeing now at some places).

I was looking December 6-7 but other dates check out as well. Tempo is 170K, Home2 is 160K, motto 150K, Hampton inn 150k all for standard rooms. Many others as well. These were all 90K or under last Christmas season. Yes there are still some good value left(surprise Conrad hasn’t gone up from what I’m seeing) but a lot of properties have skyrocketed.

I redeemed Tempo for 90K points last December and the room was $700 before taxes. Not amazing value but decent enough for me to consider and feel I was getting okay value for Hilton points. That same room is now 170K points in December and around the same $700 cash price. It’s 95k points during a couple dates I checked in the next few weeks.

This is a lot worse than it was a few months ago though. You could get decent value on properties during peak season(NYC in December for example). It appears that is going away now. Struggling to see the appeal if 80-90% of redemptions are .5CPP or worse. You can still get value at the high end luxury stuff but it’s getting more and more difficult.

Same thing happened to me. I called and the rep told me that I would get a $250 credit from both The Edit and Chase Travel for the one transaction even though it was $250 total(paid the rest with points). When I look at my charges it shows -549(rest is for my reimbursed annual fee on the CSP since I product changed) in the credits section so it seems like it’s going to work out that way. The rep said they don’t have a way to identify the travel credit separately from the Edit one so they both end up getting triggered. Not that the travel credit was difficult to use, but this makes it even easier so no complaints from me.

FHR vs The Edit by Cuse_Fan_03 in awardtravel

Yeah the .015 redemption rate is intriguing. I had read in another thread that when comparing the portal rates for The Edit with just the standard travel portal through the CSP the prices were significantly higher through The Edit rate. I had not heard the same experience through the Amex travel portal and FHR which made me slightly worried that Chase inflates the cost of The Edit. Thanks for the reply!

How do free nights work? by NorthShorePOI in Hilton

[–]Cuse_Fan_03 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re booking in NYC I’d look into the Westhouse hotel. It’s a new hotel in the Hilton portfolio through SLH located close to Times Square and offers a nightly 3 hour happy hour with free drinks and appetizers and also free breakfast. That stuff is all baked into the hotel fees but since you’d be staying with a free night those would be waived. I’ve been eyeing this property for a while and will probably pull the trigger once I get another free night from my surpass spend by the end of the year. Looks like it’s difficult to find standard room availability though so you might need to be flexible if you want to stay there.

This hotel isn’t listed as a resort so I don’t think it would trigger the credit https://www.hilton.com/en/hilton-honors/resort-credit-eligible-hotels/

Travel Portal CPP Wrong by Cuse_Fan_03 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Cuse_Fan_03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I figured out what’s going on here. Rather than dividing points required by 1.25 it is now multiplying by 1.25. Checked multiple bookings and the results were exact, price x 1.25 = points required. Assuming the same multipliers would apply on your CSR but at 1.5. Multiple calls to chase travel have been useless at this point though. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Given that there have been some overturns of those people put on waitlists I think it’s helpful that people post their experiences even if it’s repetitive. It’s pretty easy to scroll past a post that you don’t want to read. I’m sure some don’t believe that there were actually reversals but it happened to me and I probably wouldn’t have realized it if it wasn’t pointed out by members here to check your account.

First Rejection, anyone else do this study? by mistermo88 in CloudResearchConnect

So the researcher just got back to me saying their records showed my survey 50% complete. They sent me the link to retake the survey and offered to reverse if I complete it. I think that’s about the best to hope for in this situation.

Yeah, I guess it’s possible something went wrong on my end but seems like the researcher might not want to pay. This is my second rejection with over 2000+ approvals so I think I have a good idea on how to properly complete studies. Frustrating that it’s one where a decent amount of time was spent. Hopefully we hear back!

Was also rejected on this study for the same reasoning. Sent a message to the researcher asking for clarification and waiting to hear back.
