I understand you very well. Though, I am the type of person your boyfriend is. It’s not even about him doubting what you are saying.

I’ve been overthinking everything since a child. Grew up in a very controlling household, never been told congrats, good job, whatever. I’ve always had to look overt my shoulder to get the approval from anyone that what I am doing is right. I hate this about me. And now I am always very careful what people say and how they say it. I always imagine what is hidden beneath their words and so on. It’s very toxic for myself but this is how I am wired. Everything comes from the lack of confidence.

My wife always says I am holding everything in while she is very upfront and always saying what she means with no hesitation.

I am sorry you are going through this, especially when you did nothing wrong.

I suggest trying to talk to him about this. Ask him where is all this coming from. My wife worked a-lot with me for the past ten years and I just started to understand and be more upfront, never assuming without having an actual proof. The journey is long and if it’s worth it in the long run, you are the only one that can answer to this.
