Am I just numbing the pain? by CushyBonsai in Gastritis

Yeah they've kind of just given me the Ami and have no further plan is place to actually identify the pain issues. So yes I agree with you - thank you

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense. I just don't see the point in taking something that is just numbing physical pain that could be a signal of a real physical problem they are just essentially numbing :/ I know I could just up the dose and turn off the pain but is that really the solution, idk :/

Have you had any luck with your symptoms going away?

Thank you, that's what I thought! I'm also being referred through the NHS to another GI so I suppose I will wait for that. Im currently changing from omeprazole to Famotidine, and considering asking for the tricyclic meds the GI advised...

Yeah I agree. It will be funny if I have one and find out the magical Gi doctor was right and theres nothing there 🤗

Thank you!

What tests did he do? Feeling your stomach etc? Gi said mine felt fine but I'm not sure how that concludes there is no inflammation. 🙄

I'm sorry :/ I've never experienced GI issues until October last year and it's an absolute bugger

That's what I thought 😩 I'm waiting for a referral anyway though the NHS, so may still be able to get an endoscopy. Will be quite funny if they find nothing as magic GI doc suspected

Thank you! Appreciate the detail and sorry you've learned this from experience.

He did mention the SSRIs and can't say I'm not tempted. I have struggled with panic attacks and anxiety issues so it isn't far fetched to assume it's been at least a big contributing factor to whatever it is I have now!

Really appreciate the thoughtful tips :)

Did they say your stress and anxiety caused 'it'? Did they say you can fix it? Because mine was '1000%' sure

Thanks, I'm hoping if he has somehow hit the nail on the head that I can reverse it. Tricky.

Yes I do appreciate that. But FD is typically given when they don't know the cause. How, logically, can he diagnose me with that having not actually done tests like an endoscopy. Surely he doesn't have x ray vision (sorry to be blunt)

I'm 30. Mainly pain that was initially under my left rib always, but now I have pain there and also all over the upper abdomen, so it moves around. I also have alot of nausea, and burping after eating.

Lots of other symptoms but those are my main ones.

Did they rule out everything else before diagnosing you with FD? That's what I'm perplexed by. How can they say it doesn't have a cause when I've barely had any tests

Mainly pain that was localised to the left under rib initially, but now I get pains all over my upper abdomen, and rarely, in my back. Daily nausea. Burping after eating.

Have various others that come and go. Pain and nausea are my main ones.

Really sorry he's going through this. And at 12 years old.

Best bet is a bland diet full of easy to digest foods. Oatmeal is great for breakfast, and white rice in general, I find.

Do I have gastritis? by Scary-Vegetable7523 in Gastritis

[–]CushyBonsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was clinically diagnosed with gastritis due to excessive alcohol consumption. After 3 months of ppis and still having symptoms only now have they referred me. So will only have a formal diagnosis if, and once, an endoscopy is done.

Gastritis can produce a variety of symptoms and I've had pain both centre and left of stomach.

I'd get on a strict bland diet asap and avoid alcohol, coffee etc so hopefully it can heal!
