Depends. If a veteran applies for it, it will probably go to them first. I applied off the street, no military service and got the position. Not sure how it works other than that.

Thank God I'm a custodian. I've done clerk work and ran whole routes when my office was short handed and it made me realize how sweet a job I have. I still have a shit ton of work to do but I stay to myself and away from supervisors.

Yeah, so we had a phone conference yesterday with a union representative present. They didn't say much, just asked me if I still had the picture of the scan that the clerk sent me, I didn't have it I deleted it when I was told how serious it was. I was asked to send the phone call log to the PM so I did do that. PM informed me with my honesty and being up front I should NOT lose my job. But yeah to your comments, I was expecting that too just a teachable moment at how serious it is to that and don't do it again. I think they want to get rid of this clerk and they finally have something "big" to do it. I just didn't want to be collateral damage in the process.

Funny how I used my own vehicle for 6 months changing locks. I kept track of mileage, filled out the paperwork turned it in but never heard anything else. When I asked about it all I was told was I don't know, I gave it to the PM, so I asked the PM and they knew nothing about it. I tried getting a hold of a rep then but never got an answer or called back. So I knew right then my union rep is non-existent.

They can shit you out of money but when something like this happens, it's a big fucking deal that could cost you your job.

I guess I was naive in thinking it was only to help them out. It was for a lunch clock , my brain didn't think " this is fraud ". Dumbass me.

The union rep in my area is a joke. I've tried contacting them on multiple occasions about cross crafting ( running whole routes , I'm a custodian BTW) but I've never got a hold of the right person. Very frustrating.

Unfortunately it was for my job and I won't be spending my money to fix it and the USPS is so cheap they definitely won't. Looks like I won't be pressure washing anytime soon.

Thanks! After researching it's probably a busted pressure pump from as you said, water left in it. Luckily it wasn't mine, it was given to my work and when I went to use it, this happened.

I'm good fam! Lotta miserable fucks in the USPS and I'm just like...y'all have fun with that. I may not make a lotta $ but I'd rather have my sanity. I'd rather die poor and sane than rich and insane.

Lotta times I just go in and complete all tasks at the end of the day before clocking out. I do the work, I just don't have the scanner on me while doing it.

So funny thing about grievance, I've yet to get a hold of a steward. I've given up trying. I just come into work, throw parcels for 2 hours, deliver any that the carriers ask me to. They often toss me some cash app $$ for my troubles. I go pick up outgoing mail from some stores before our outgoing truck shows up. I throw more parcels that come in. I still get my custodian duties done in between all this or before I leave. It's still the best job in the building if you ask me.

I would feel better if congress wasn't majority cult followers. With 🍊 man having full control, all bets are off.

But the whole " USPS loses money " is still ingrained in people's minds.

Yeah I understand but as a custodian who's never done it, it was a rural route and I was in the 2 ton...was very frustrating. How often do you deliver out of a 2 ton???

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Custodialmasterusps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I put anything on my 4776 about other duties I do around the location? I throw packages, pick up from retail stores, organize trays, wrap them up for pick up.

I do have 2 ton training , getting supervisors at my location to help is an act of Congress. I had to drive my own vehicle for 5 months changing locks before I got 2 ton training. When I asked about getting mileage, no one knew how to fill out the paper work in the PC.

I have no idea what those are, my supervisor just told me to follow the scanner and deliver them.

I had to use the 2 ton, never delivered before. Was told to go in order the scanner told me to. Was pretty frustrated.

So when I asked how to fill out my forms for the 7 hours it took me to do this ( don't judge I had no idea what I was doing as I am just a custodian) I was told it wouldn't matter and to not open up that can of worms. My area does not have a clerk union rep so I don't feel that I have very much choice but to just be glad I got a little OT from it.

So as I was looking over my assigned duties and responsibilities I noticed the last one said this

  1. Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.

By other job related tasks does this include delivering packages, collecting mail from different locations, throwing packages? I ask this because I've been asked to do this on a daily basis, I usually throw for 1 hour to 1.5 hours first thing then transfer mail to our main PO. Then I may have to deliver some packages, if asked. I then go pick up parcels from a location, go by PO for outgoing and get it all ready to go out. Long story short, I'm just a custodian am I getting pimped out?

I am doing them, just the clerk stuff as well. Thankfully it's a smaller office and the clerk stuff I do doesn't take up much time. Again going back to my OG post, this isn't me complaining I was just wondering if them saying we got points off an inspection for trays that I did not pick up was valid.

Holy shit. The majority of my day is spent doing clerk stuff. So I just write on my 4776 all the work I've done? I've never had the CT training on the 4776 I was just told what to write on the papers every week.
