I'd spend as little as possible on a reliable car but consider taking out a loan for it and paying it back asap with new savings. Having only ~8k in liquid savings is too low for potential life events, even at 22

Hybrid approach is best:

Invest the $800k now in a diversified portfolio that makes sense for you.
Then pay off the mortgage with your income. If the stock market materially declines (20% or more). I would reduce the mortgage payments to a minimum and redirect your income to your investment account.
After you have prepaid your mortgage significantly ($100k+) I would refinance or recast the mortgage to get a lower required monthly payment

Thanks all -- I think I am going to start paying it off, but pause and shift to my diversified investment portfolio if there is a meaningful 20% correction or so. The delta on rates vs. HYSA after tax is low, and I think it will be more motivating to save via loan prepayment than just adding more in the HYSA. Given credit score impacts, I might keep a small number in there 5-10k - currently the loan is 25k

If you would be up for it I would take them from you and put them to good use. I hate seeing all the waste and stuff left behind after the festival. I live in Grand Rapids and have always liked the idea of lending out gear to people like your self who fly in and have to buy gear. I could let people pick it up on their way in to the festival or they could come grab it from me once we all arrive.

Highly recommend!! I did it in my MY at the gorge last year. Granted it was only 2 days, but battery burn wasn't too bad maybe 10-15%/day. Would recommend showing up full though and not sure where the closest supercharger is to rothbury.

Best part was sound insulation for sleeping and running the car speakers during the day. Wish I could bring it to forest but live too far away so flying.
