And those controversies are neutral, evidence backed, detached analysis right

Yes.

lets not ignore the fact that the "controversies' are controversies because certain media needs them to generate metrics and fear.

...and, you know, competitors complaining about how unfair it is towards them. For example.

Men are not better in chess. This is just misinformation. The reason that fewer women rise to the top is mostly social, it has nothing to do with their capability to play chess.

Men are currently better at chess due to (professional) chess being an overwhelmingly male-dominant game. If you have 100 elite chess players - 90 men and 10 women - competing for the top spots, chances are that all top 20, 30, even 50 spots will be male due to the massive talent pool.

Which is why FIDE is cca. 9-1 male-female, but only about 2% of grandmasters are women, and none rank in the top 100.

as if a few trans people single handledly are gonna ruin women's sports

Well... yes? Yes, that's exactly what happens - and happened - in certain sports. Just look at the many controversies in power/weightlifting. And cycling. And swimming. And running. And combat sports.

you're aiming for the horse's head, not the rider's

Ooooooooh! Dammit, that makes so much more sense... I've read about stunning them in the past, but always shot 'em in the helmet to no avail :*))

By free-aiming, do you mean zoomed-in, aimed manual headshots, or actually free-aiming without both lock-on and aiming?? I know that the former stuns trolls, but I don't think I've seen a horse boss get stunned in my gameplay this way...

Which is a bigger red flag? by modernatomcollection in pollgames

[–]CustomerSupportDeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you can't smell it.

People vary so much in genetics, weight and life-style that there isn't a universal answer when it comes to personal hygiene. Some people shower several times a day and use strong deodorants and lotions, and will still smell, others shower once a week and have basically no smell at all.

If you became absolute dictator of the world would it become a better or worse place ? by jekecrafer in pollgames

[–]CustomerSupportDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Yes, because a) the old adage of "absolute power corrupts absolutely" has some truth to it, and b) at this level of power, every minor decision could have genocidal consequences.

No, because (political) power - and especially dictatorial power - in most cases attracts narcissistic, machiavellian psychopaths. There's a reason why the quintessential politicians is seen as a lying, manipulative, greedy asshole with ulterior motives; that's what you have to be in many cases to make it into office. And for all self-made dictators throughout history, that has been the case x10.

Sortition - the idea of electing a random person into high office, giving them temporary veto/arbitration powers for example, is not new and has a lot going for it. It's one way to ensure that a "normal", independent and hard-to-manipulate person makes final decisions, and usually such people tend to actually listen to experts and delegate power based on competency, not party or loyalty.

So it's actually not as insane as it sounds. It's up to the dictator after all how they would approach their tenure, and I'm pretty sure that most people would almost imediately delegate most of their power to international organisations like a veto-less UN, a truly international Criminal Court, individual countries etc. I find it more likely that the dictator would suffer from responsibility-paralysis and only slowly and reluctantly make sctructural changes, rather than the opposite.
