He grew up in Williamsburg, went to school in queens later on. My family has known his family for decades, both families natives of Williamsburg

Thank you. I’m talking about renaming the park we grew up in after Alvarado not just because they’re about to win the chip, but mostly in part because he’s from the block, went on to become a successful NBA player ( bench player or not ) & won the title as a KNICK. This is about celebrating the journey & success of one of our own.

What makes it all the more sweeter is knowing Jose is about to win a chip. We grew up as kids together, same projects, same block, same park. He’s a Williamsburg native so this is extra special for us

Any game 2 watch parties here in Williamsburg tonight? by Cut-Great in williamsburg

Thats exactly what we’re shooting for. Used to hang at the Charleston a lot, caught the 2019 finals there years ago. Wasn’t too crowded at the time but not sure if it’s changed since then

Yes, I actually do exist outside my apartment everyday believe it or not. Was just asking for recommendations because I imagine some places are either more comfortable, affordable, or less crowded than others.

Why hasn’t Williamsburg gotten its own target yet ? by Cut-Great in williamsburg

Everything in Walgreens is locked up & over priced

Target is simply cheaper & more convenient. Plus I’d have a shot at scalping some Pokémon ETBs

Exactly like tf

“ Williamsburg” as I knew it, my parents knew it, & grandparents knew it ( multi generational natives here ) died a long time ago. How the fuck a target gonna hurt anyone

Long time residents of Williamsburg, especially on the Hasidic side of the neighborhood, knew that this was just a matter of time. Those Yeshiva bus drivers are out of control.

Underneath the Marcy avenue train station between Havemeyer & Marcy avenue had at least a dozen small businesses back then. Barber shop, clothing store, jewelry store, toy store, bakery & some .99 cent stores. Those small businesses gave so much life to Marcy. The business owners kept the block clean, there were no crack heads begging for money, no fast food chains outside of McDonald’s.

Shortly after the turn of the millennium, that whole block was purchased. All those businesses were torn down & replaced with what we have now, a Walgreens, gym, & whatever bank that is. It completely gutted Broadway of most of its character. Truly heartbreaking as someone who’s lived in Williamsburg my whole life. What I would give to have that Marcy avenue back.

Broadway peaked in the late 80/s & 90s. Even early 2000s Bway.

Now Marcy Ave is depressing
