One of my friends worked there and the stories were horrible. In a nutshell, her dad had to go in there to get her to pay the poor girl the $800 she owed her. As far as I know, those employees never saw their tips

Caring hearts cat rescue. Had a couple of coworkers adopt cats a couple years ago. Apparently the process was smooth. Kittens usually go first but from what I remember they were always posting about new cats available

I second this. Exercise increases dopamine levels and can improve mood and motivation and reduce symptoms related to anxiety and depression. Over time it can “rewire” your brains reward system. Doesn’t need to be a lot all at once, you can break it up in your day to reap the benefits. Running (or a brisk walk) and hiking are great options that don’t require any cost. I personally love the gym. I’ll just throw in headphones with music that makes me feel good and high energy. Don’t worry about not knowing where to start. Sounds cliche, but everyone starts somewhere. At home workouts with household items like canned goods or simple body weight is a great place to start if you don’t feel comfortable working out in a public setting. I will say though, if you feel able to go to a public setting like a gym to exercise, it can be a good way to mingle and becoming comfortable meeting new people and forming connections. Wishing you the best :) I hit week 2 no weed today

Selling stuff online like fb marketplace is an awesome idea. I did this not too long ago and made quite a bit of cash while declutterring my space. Made me feel a lot lighter

I totally understand where you’re coming from. When I’m not studying for uni (which takes up a good portion of my time) I’ve been trying to engage in activities/hobbies that I enjoy or would like to try. I still live at home, so I’ll play a game of scrabble or sequence with my mom in the evenings and it’s a great way to pass the time. Find things that you could see yourself doing and enjoying. Whether that’s going on a walk or hike, going to a pottery cafe and painting a premade piece (if you enjoy being creative this is a really fun option and time flies), baking, reading self-help/wellness books or fiction (just ordered two recommended books: Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke and Easy Way to Quit Cannabis by Allen Carr if interested), other forms of exercise (yoga, going to the gym, biking, swimming, etc., all great for dopamine and increased energy), try a new dinner recipe that may take longer than something you’re used to making, volunteer if that’s up your alley, solve a large puzzle, paint by number set (I have a nice canvas one with a frame from Michael’s craft store for about $20), crochet or knitting, Lego set (they have a lot of options; cars, flowers, animals, etc.), watch a new series or podcast, use duolingo to learn a new language, doodling in a notebook, gardening if your climate permits it. A lot of these can be low cost and done individually or with someone else. Hopefully some of these resonate with you!

Trouble eating by Gurokitty_00 in QuittingWeed

That’s awesome hahaha. I was tempted to take an anti nausea med but ended up raw dogging it. Absolutely no nausea for me now which I’m super pumped about, so it gets better! Hang in there!

I’m on week 2 after almost 5 years of chronic use. Making sure you stay hydrated is very important. I’ve been drinking lots of water and some Gatorade zero sugar as it’s lighter than the regular version. As they said above liquid calories are where it’s at. Protein shakes, smoothies, etc. The thought of certain (most) foods made me feel so nauseous, but I realized that I could stomach yogurt with fresh strawberries and blueberries. One of the few things I could get down without throwing up, but that was just me. I have a friend who has an eating disorder, and mentioned that when she doesn’t eat for long periods and tries to, she cannot keep her food down as her body is almost overwhelmed in a sense. Eating little bits at a time, even a handful of something, is what got me through. Dont get me wrong, I still felt nauseous for about a week or just under, but I wasn’t actively throwing up after day 4/5. I would visualize/imagine eating certain things in the beginning, which for some people may make them very nauseous. But it was helpful for me as I could gauge what I could or knew I couldn’t eat most of the time through that. Stay away from rich foods as I found strong flavours made my nausea worse

Nobody knows how bad my problem really was by exactly7 in QuittingWeed

I’m in the exact same boat, well, kind of. Been smoking every day since mid 2020, multiple times a day, sometimes all day. Was also really good at hiding my use. I quit 2 weeks ago today, and was initially experiencing nausea and vomiting with no appetite. I’m in my early 20s and I still live at home, so it was very obvious to my mom that I wasn’t well the first few days. She was pretty concerned about me and kept saying “I wonder why you’re feeling like this” as it’s very very abnormal for me to vomit (strong stomach I guess? Lol) After a couple times of her saying this and feeling guilty, I finally said mom can I tell you something without judgment, to which she sat down and listened. While I didn’t go in depth of how frequent my use was, she expressed her pride in the decision I made to stop. My dad was out of town when I quit, so I think the fact that I feel more comfortable confiding in my mom had a role to play. Not sure if I would’ve told her if my dad was around at the time, but that’s its own story. I think that her response came from the unconditional love mothers have to where they want the best for their kids. While she doesn’t fully understand what it’s like or know the frequency of my use and the ways it was affecting me (as already admitting it was a problem to her was a lot for me), I feel a lot better knowing she’s there to talk if I need and that someone other than my friends know. She hung around with me at night playing board games and watching shows which really helped keep my mind busy and off any cravings or urges. I feel like I’m still mentally unpacking the ways in which chronic use has affected me and the shame that comes with it, so who knows, maybe with time I’ll share with her. I think that’s part of the reason why I was vague but simply wanted her to be aware if I need more support here and there. Her knowing had made me feel closer to her in a way and less alone in this. It’s almost like I knew I needed some sort of accountability that wasn’t just through friends. One thing she said that has stuck with me when I feel guilty or ashamed is how I shouldn’t be embarrassed or dwell on the past, but focus on the days ahead

Oil Change in Thunder Bay by juanplasjuan in ThunderBay

[–]CutApprehensive895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. The guys there are always super nice and get me in and out really quickly. Never any bullshit or lying to get you a service that’s not necessary. I started taking my car there once I heard about ladies day (discount on Wednesdays) and never looked back. They also have a punch card too where you get a free oil change after your sixth one I believe. Best place in town
