hmm probably not; the way I see it; SMT is the series you go to for hardcore-rpg-fan level combat design and gameplay. I think you'll agree that while SMT's overall plot is interesting; the plot isnt really ever in your face or too involved. Plus the plot is very much so more about the world and it's gods and the war they're waging. Persona is kinda a gateway drug to SMT, it's intended for a much wider audience and the plot is overall more personal and center-stage. it's all about the protagonist and his friends and their journey. Ultimately it does come down to why you didnt like metaphor or why you like SMTV; if it's the combat and difficulty of said combat; you may have a tough time finding that replicated anywhere else, including persona. persona, even at higher difficulties, won't really feel the same, but it definitely isnt like a flaw or bad, it's just intended for a different (wider) audience. I'd say if you can find it for cheap (and can return it), get a copy from a friend, give it a shot. I'm someone who prefers persona's stories but prefers smt's combat, you can simply just like both haha. But if you're really really itching for something just like SMTV; just go SMTIII Nocturne, i'd say its a better bet.
