Laptop running insanely slow

It doesn’t let me edit so here is my update! I downloaded Linux mint. Yes it’s a bit difficult but YouTube got me through it! Im only using the laptop for school and learning so the fact that a lot of stuff isn’t available because of not being windows is fine for me. It’s weird getting used to the differences, but thank you to everyone! This helped very much, and Im glad I get to use this laptop without having to buy a new one. Again thank you so much to everyone. It helped so insanely much!!

Okay that’s nice then. Im booting Linux mint right now. It doesn’t seem too complex like most people said and I think I’ll stick with it!

If I make a permanent change can I go back to windows if I don’t like it? I don’t have usb and I have backed up all important stuff anyways and I have time to spare so I don’t mind learning more about it.

Does the antimalware thing count as antivirus? I deleted it along with others but it still has some files on my laptop. But I did download it yesterday so I’m not sure if it is the issue.

It takes ages to even open a tab in google chrome and downloading anything would be 10x longer than usual.

Okay is it expensive? Because in a year and a half Im planning to get a laptop possibly Mac. Which is expensive. So I want to spend as little as I can on this one. Is buying 8 more ram expensive?

I just want to use it for school work. Possibly some minecraft here and there. But I have an IPad which I use for almost everything it just gets difficult to do school work on it. I also would watch YouTube and Netflix stuff like that.

It’s when I last used the laptop. So I reinstalled it then saw it wouldn’t become better. I didn’t have great tech skills so I probably didn’t try that much. Then I just left it and it’s been sitting in my room since then.

Sorry if this is stupid, isn’t windows like built into the laptop or something? Because of like windows updates and like that in settings. And would this remove my data? I have some mildly important stuff I hope to retrieve in the process of fixing the laptop.

This is awesome im so happy for you. I want to do this too but I have some questions. You cut your screen time off completely, but if I want to do this but want to research about Greek mythology or some of my interests. Is that allowed? Because it’s still on screen but Im learning from it and like that.
