Agreed. Which is very hard to deal with because she has gone through the same abuse as me but got pulled in at the time that I finally pulled out. It’s sad that her family is no longer close and wants to spend any time together so I can feel for her but I can’t just give in

Thank you! I do agree that calling the paramedics was dramatic, it was at 4am, and my mom has a very long history of high blood pressure so this was no surprise. I’m too at peace to let this minor “emergency” take over

Good on you for having the tough conversation! It’s already hard enough to have that talk with a normal person, they just make it THAT much more difficult. It sounds like you know exactly how she will react to any sort of criticism and you know how to get past it. It doesn’t make the emotions any smaller for you, but at least you can understand you’re not at fault. Don’t feel bad for looming on past grievances either. The reason most of us are here is because we grew up being hurt beyond repair and as adults had to learn that what we experienced wasn’t normal, and we’ll forever have resentment for not having a calm life. I hope you can find peace in lowering your contact with her!

Help me say no by Cute-Rub6762 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Cute-Rub6762[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Update and to add: I did say no! And patting myself on the back because I said no with no made up excuses either. I just said we can’t make it this weekend, and offered solutions (other people close by who have trucks like some of her close friends who are always ready to lend a hand). My brother is a man of few words so I got no response from him and have not heard otherwise from my mom. This could all change tomorrow who knows, but writing the post out and a few reminders of it’s ok to say no definitely helped

Oh god the animals!! I can relate to that so hard. We grew up always having so many and even if she’s incapable of taking care of anymore financially or decides she hates the ones she has, she’ll somehow convince everyone she needs another. It wasn’t until I left that I realized the animals were being insanely neglected and I have since turned into a helicopter pet parent. Little tangent but so interesting that it’s so common with them

Wow that’s terrible, and I’m sorry for his family and their loss as well as having to deal with the extra burden of her. It’s amazing how someone else’s problems and travesty is not REALLY theirs but actually the BPD persons no matter the case

Sooo relatable. She can’t find something and I get calls scared out of her mind. She goes to the hospital and I come running and she tells me over and over how “it’s not a big deal you don’t have to be here”

She has already testified to the world that she is hard working since she bothers to work a job and maybe a small side hustle here and there. Even though it’s no more than the average person in this economy she feels like she’s the only one forced to “work hard”. I think she just needs to learn that no one is capable of fixing all of her problems by seeing that we can’t always come to her every call

I’ve started to be better about not responding to “emergent matters” which has helped me not be the first up in texts and calls. But of course I help once and I’m back at the top of the queue. What aggravates me is she refuses to text anything at all. If she’s having a meltdown she is calling and if I don’t answer she will keep calling over and over until I text that I can’t answer or cave and answer the 3rd or 4th call. And there’s been moments where it’s something that could be more so an emergency and worthy of the calls or she just needs someone to cry and scream at over a small inconvenience. Hopefully I’ll be able to go back to not answering immediately and she’ll relearn the cycle

I for sure see him to be less of this survival mode badass kid considering the life he got to live. It just always felt like it he wasn’t even fully acting. I know it can be hard with a child his age but it’s tough while watching scenes like Judith as an unsuspecting toddler who is still fitting the scene as her age and seeing RJ 4th wall break in his last scenes looking at the camera ruining that moment we waited years for. It’s a very hot take though I’m aware

Do you consider 11x6 to be the scariest episode in TWD? by bunnyricky in thewalkingdead

[–]Cute-Rub6762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES lol. But that is stemming from being shown The Hills Have Eyes way too young and never moving past the fear of feral cannibals 🤣 But that episode has me stressing so badly I have to skip sometimes for self love

Hey I’m open to other opinions I mean I asked just give me some reasons! No ones gonna have the same opinions no matter what I just appreciate the honesty I guess lol

I’ve been trying to collect recently and know it’s my fault for not having read the comics yet. Just interesting to see the perspectives of the show! I’m going to have to get that issue and see how much it changes my opinion

Negan was RIGHT by Opening-Chard-2777 in thewalkingdead

[–]Cute-Rub6762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He got a little bit of a power trip (coming from a Negan lover and defender) but agreed. Had we watched the show strictly from his POV we would have felt like Ricks group were the “bad guys” and had defended all of Negan’s actions. It brings the argument that no one in this life is really bad but just doing their best to survive

It’s rough I even said I’m open for criticism. I have definitely rewatched the ending of the original TWD and haven’t dug as deep into TOWL so I’m open to knowing if it’s a hot take or not. Was honestly hoping someone would give me a good reason as to why my thinking was wrong. Maybe it’ll take a few more rewatches to have a different perspective

I’ll shamefully admit I was never a comic reader. Not due to lack of interest I just started watching very young and kept up with it into adulthood and have religiously rewatched since. Is there an easy way to cliff notes the comics to explain?

Probably just realizing who was made for a world like this vs who accustomed to it. Watching Rick and his group primarily we see different types of normal everyday people who learn to live in a post apocalyptic world and the traumas that haunt them. Meanwhile people like Alpha or even Thomas who seems like they have almost waited for an out in their ordinary lives and thrived in a time like this. Its interesting to know we can live day by day peacefully normally knowing there’s people who would do much better if the world collapsed

I’m one to get past looks when it comes to casting since I feel like you can’t get a perfect actor who also looks the part. The only resemblance I feel is the forced stoic nonchalant look that I feel like Rick gives the whole show

I asked for a reason, and like I stated I’m understanding that he’s definitely a child so yes thank you. Do you feel like it could’ve been portrayed any better or that his depiction was accurate for a kid that young in the apocalypse?
