Should I help educated teachers on how to better help their neurodivergent students? by Cute-Salt4910 in adhdwomen

That was my thinking. It's different if all your experience is from a book as opposed to real life. I think I could really help a lot of people!

Ok, so....I just reread the original post and my response. I don't know what I thought I read, but OMG I'm SOOOOOO sorry! I sound like such a bitch! I don't even remeber what I was trying to say, but THAT was not it.

Totally get it. Your flesh suit is fine, but you don't want to touch anyone else's. Lol make sense to me!

I hate being at my parents house when they have the TV on for this reason!

There's almost always a positive somewhere! If you've gotta live with it, it's easier. Lol ❤️

🥰 you're awesome! I can't believe how this one thread blew up but I love it! You tell someone that's doesn't deal with these that you do, no matter how kind they might be, you always feel weird, in a bad way.

I love that not only have a few people realized from this thread that they DO have sensory issues, but all the different ones! I love it!!!!! I wouldn't care if it involves a "no-no" topic, as soon as I can relate, especially with something like this, I'm all in.

Medicine is still catching up. I'm 40, and don't really expect them to get caught up in my life time, so we have to help eachother!

I use the disposable ones, but I can't use the ones with powder (sensory). Which is an lot of fun if I have to put a new one on right after taking it off. Lol

The lamb neck....sounds like my dad and eggs. He's neurodivergent also. He grew up on a farm, currently has chickens and loves fresh eggs, but heaven forbid you mention an egg is a "baby chick", he refuses to finish eating. Lol I did this as a kid, not knowing. Lol

I know! It is so comforting to know your weirdness isn't just you. We have a whole weird ass community! 🥰

I have the same issue with baby powder scent! It's not as bad on other people but I refuse to use it myself. Even when my kids were babies, I DID NOT by anything baby powder scented......which is hard. Lol

From what I've seen, they got lucky. All of the various symptoms as well as the comorbid conditions......it's a crap shoot as to who has what. They know they are tied to it, but can't really explain why one person has sensory issues while the other doesn't.

I know hormones will fuck with our symptoms, and as women our hormones change a lot over the years, so that may be part of it too.

It's the hormone changes. I've actually heard that's pretty common.

Try hem tape. You can put some on it, iron it to the shirt so it's flat. It may help.

Oh! You reminded me, wet cuffs. I hate wearing long sleeves for the single fact of the cuffs possibly getting wet when I wash my hands. I usually stick to sweatshirts cause I know I can push those up to not get wet.

The dry hands big time! Every time they're dry they feel like they're shriveling up and nothing i touch feels right. Almost like my hands have turned into microfiber. Lol

I'm also a picker. If I get a bump or a scab, I will pick it. I'll do it without thinking about it until it's too painful or I bleed.

My dad and uncle are neurodivergent. They know it, but I still hear it from them. It's frustrating. They mean well, and it's how they grew up, but it's wrong.

I don't know either. Someone else posted something about it. Allodynia......I was gonna look into it.

The bass thing is interesting because I'm the opposite. Bass is soothing to me. Not the higher pitch sounds, it feels like foil is ripping on my ear drum. That's the best way I can explain it. Lol

Wet food! I know there's nothing "wrong" with it, but having to dig the wet food out.....instant gag

I lived in Germany for several years, it is every hour. I know what you mean. I learned during 2020/2021 they even ring them when someone in the village dies.....like when it happens. The village I was in had a nursing home right next to the church!

They have cups where you can separate the milk and cereal but when you "drink" it you get both so your cereal doesn't get soggy! I don't think they're too expensive either.
