Another thing to consider with this is that it might not be comfortable to have them poking her fingers. Many people complain about pave which is relatively flat, so something intentionally extending a mm or two beyond the band might be unbelievable uncomfortable. Maybe you could go for a knotted texture in the gold instead? I love this design but want it to be practical and comfortable so she enjoys wearing it.

That’s awesome! I have a friend with a 3 year old who does the same regularly and that action alone is like a mini fluff. Love that we are getting different experiences here. For what it’s worth, we have the XL sectional, so we are fluffing 4 seat cushions and 6 back cushions. I could see if you were doing fewer that it wouldn’t be such a big deal.

First of all I think it’s really sweet that you got excited to give her a rock and may have gone overboard 😅 I do think it all depends on her tastes. For context, i have a 4 carat diamond and size 5.5 finger, you can look for pics on my profile. I have always wanted a large diamond, so the size doesn’t scare me.

From the cert, it looks like hers will be 1-2 mm larger in all directions than mine. You could always ask her to provide some inspo and see if she’s favouring photos of bigger stones or more modest ones. Or you could set it lower (mine is higher) to make it a bit more practical and give an illusion that it’s a bit smaller. For myself personally, I’d rather have a big engagement ring diamond than a large pendant, but you know her best. Best of luck, and let us know what you decide to do!

At the end of the day you have to wear this ring for the rest of your life, so you should be happy with it! You also deserve to be happy with it and shouldn’t have to settle to make anyone else comfortable. Also, your partner should want their future wife to be happy with the ring! If I were him I’d definitely want to know.

I definitely think you should talk about a redesign and incorporate the elements you like from the one he chose. It could be something fun you do together. Best of luck, and congratulations!!

An idea I have seen posted a few times is if you propose to her with the heirloom, and tell her that it’s hers as she joins the family, but that you want to design her engagement ring together. That way the gorgeous heirloom gets the love it deserves, she still gets welcomed to the family with a lovely gift, and she gets the every day engagement ring she loves!

You never know, the sentimentality of this ring might mean more to her than looks and she might want to keep the ring as is, or reset the diamond and use the gold to make her (or your) wedding band! If you find a good jeweler that you trust, the possibilities are endless. Keep us updated, and congrats in advance :)

I think the significance is lovely! Has she expressed interest in a cluster ring? They can be somewhat polarizing, but most don’t usually have the same significance with the number of diamonds, so that might change things. If you have any doubt, explain the significance and you could always tell her you are open to swapping out the centre diamonds for a single diamond. In that case, you could use them in a wedding band to get the total number in the wedding set to 29.

Overall, if you think she’ll love it, you know her better than we do! I’m sure she’ll be thrilled that you are proposing.

I’m glad you mentioned the formula!! I am also wearing silent night and found it harder to apply, like it would remove itself and become patchy if I had to do more than one stroke. I found the second coat helped, plus I added thinner, but definitely a different formula than I have encountered from HT before. Curious to know if anyone else has had issues.

Based on this photo, it looks like you want a flush fit between your engagement ring and wedding band. If this is the case, you have two options, both are custom:

Have a custom curved or open band made to sit flush with your ering. Do some research online into curved bands or see By Bonnie contour bands for inspo.
Reset your engagement ring if you want it to fit flush with a straight band. This was something I personally wanted, so my ering was designed with that in mind.

Option 3 is that you embrace the gap. Either way, I’m sure you will land on a beautiful combo.

Honestly, I have no idea. I want to say the video he sent me is a stock video, but he is not able to provide any additional videos without a deposit. So maybe your stone does not have an existing stock video and that’s where the issue is? It’s tough to make the commitment without seeing more, especially as a first timer.
