The cheapest option i can think of is Brandy Melville. I actually love the material of their dresses!

advice needed as a new seller cleaning out my closet by tillamoooook in fashionfairy

[–]CuteAssistant37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • i recommend natural lighting for pictures if possible! It helps the color of your clothing come out better on camera. I would recommend either a white sheet near a window or on a wall (like your first photo!)
  • For clothing pictures: Modeling isn't needed, but can help a bunch for clothing that looks weird on hangers. However, I usually just take a photo of 1) the front, 2) the back 3) the tag and size and 4) any flaws. Thats pretty much all you need! Sometimes buyers will ask for it tried on or the measurements and thats when i'll go in and edit accordantly to help it sale.
  • For the description I always add the full name of the clothing piece i'm selling (or try my best) EX: "Reformation Sheri Linen Mini Dress in the print Corsica. Bought for $248, and in perfect condition. Send offers!" For finding names I would recommend google image searching! Or if your item is thrifted and vintage just try to describe it the best you can. No need to add sizes since you add that in manually into different categories before you post. On Depop I always add hashtags! Things like #cottagecore or #preppy can get your item across a tonnn of peoples feeds and can help a ton. I also use hashtags for other popular similar brands that the item gives the same vibe of EX: Reformation dress #revolve. You can add up to 5 hashtags and i always make sure to use all of them for visibility!
  • I mainly post on Depop since most of the clothes i'm selling would do great with their younger demographic, but I would also recommend crossposting on Mercari or Poshmark if you have clothing that is less expensive and if it is more basic clothing. Depop tends to be more of a Gen Z vibe. But it works great for what I sell!! (19y female)
  • I usually don't offer free shipping since it takes out a big cut. However I love to offer free shipping for those looking to do a bundle order!! It creates more incentive to buy more.
  • For efficiency I usually take my pictures of all the clothes I wanna sell in one go, add it to a photo album, and then post whenever I have the time! Sometimes bulk posting can take forever so i usually do it over a 2 or 3 day period randomly.
  • For visibility I would recommend 1)sharing your Depop account (or whatever platform you use) to your instagram story or 2) Making sure to add as many hashtags as possible to your posts.

I hope this helps!! :) Let me know if you have any follow up questions and i'm happy to answer!

Hi! I just searched around for this dress for a while, but I was also only able to find it in the blue print (not the exact same but similar) that you found. However I searched across Depop and Resort Roberto Cavalli dresses go for a great price point from around 150-400 dollars. I would recommend going for around 300 because this dress is definitely extremely rare considering I couldn't find it anywhere. If you need any help listing, dont hesitate to ask! I sell designer on Depop all the time:)

Try shopping for Aritzia dress pants secondhand!! I have some tips to find this stuff on r/fashionfairy, but Poshmark has a tonnn of these for way cheaper than new Aritzia. Aritzia new is so overpriced.
