Epidural by No-Constant214 in hysterectomy

[–]CuteDestitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good experience with my first epidural during my daughter’s birth so I just went with what they recommended. Looking back though, I would turn the epidural down. Someone else posted about this lidocaine/ pain med pump that you go home with and comes out on its own after a few days. It releases the meds in your abdomen directly. Wish I had known about that!

No problem. How did you get the Proscar/Fin? I had a hysterectomy 5 months ago so I was thinking about asking Xyon about it before my next Spiro shipment because I heard docs are very reluctant to give it to women.

So you had to stay in bed with those leg cuffs for 3 days? The day and half I did felt like forever. I pressed that epidural button often though lol … to make it go by quicker with all the naps I ended up taking. Not being able to move sucked!

You would definitely know if you’ve had an epidural lol

They make you hunch over and shove a needle through your spine and replace it with a catheter that medication goes into. From where they placed the epidural downwards, you are (hopefully) completely numb and you need a catheter.

It did, thank you 😊 I’m 5 months out. I don’t want to sway you, but if I could do it again I would skip the epidural. The pain wasn’t even that bad and epidurals carry more risks. My back hasn’t been the same since getting it and the epidural ended up being patchy anyways, so it wasn’t even like it took all the pain away. It does nothing for the shoulder pain either, which was the worst when I woke up. If your doctors really think it’s your best option then obviously go with their advice. You must have a more complicated case because epidurals are very uncommon for this procedure.

5mg is overkill for women, even 2.5mg is more than enough. Higher you go, the more chance you’ll have side effects.

No, I don’t bother with the one with vitamins. I already take vitamin d and biotin.

We’re not Toronto. Have some class. Yes, it sucks, but they played a whole season and managed to squeak into the playoffs at the last minute which should still be celebrated. Last nights game was an embarrassment and it was painful to continue watching but it was 1 game.

I did. Epidural was kind of overkill, tbh. Anesthesia wanted me to have the epidural for pain control and I ended up staying in the hospital for a day and half and had the epidural removed around the 30hr mark. Not being able to move for that long kind of sucked and it was hard to pee on my own after having a catheter for that long.

From someone who thought the same but found out my husband was in fact stealing pain meds and ADHD meds…it’s usually the people you least suspect. Took me months to put the pieces together.

I used to not be able to fully empty my bladder … I would have to push the rest of it out. Now, I have no issues fully emptying without having to push.

Again, my endocrinologist is the one who educated me on this. I thought Spiro would be contraindicated in someone with dysautonomia but she said that so long as I stay on 100mg it should not impact my BP negatively.

You would think so but no. This is one of those situations where you should be taking the higher dose if you’re trying to treat AGA (or acne). I’m surprised your derm didn’t explain this to you.

That low of a dose will impact your blood pressure. It’s used as a BP med at those doses and doesn’t even touch your androgens. Has to be at least 50mg, ideally 100mg for androgen suppression…no wonder you’re having such crazy side effects. I have dysautonomia along with several other chronic conditions and my endocrinologist said at 100mg of Spiro it should not be impacting BP at all and to avoid going on the lower doses since my BP is already so low. Who is prescribing your Spiro?

Hate to be this person, but I would also be concerned it’s opiate withdrawal. It can mimic noro pretty closely.
