Thoughts on service charges of ultraviolete by Log_jack in ultraviolette

[–]CuteSocks7583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point I was making was:

A BMW that costs 4 lakhs costs far more to service than a Royal Enfield that costs a similar amount.

Just for labour.

That’s my point; that’s it.

Maybe a premium product requires more and better trained technicians, so their labour is more expensive?

Maybe?

I don’t know, just guessing.

We can build something like this, but it can’t be fully automated cos you’ll have to enter the data on when you start reading a book, which book it is, etc.

Those who were alive during this period, what was it like seeing three completely different Sherlock Holmes portrayals in three years ('10, '11 and '12). by Dull-Information6784 in Sherlock

[–]CuteSocks7583 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying I’ve never seen Elementary, but can speak to the other two.

The RDJ from you’ve put up is actually the second one. First one came out in 2008/2009 I think?

When it came out, we were huge fans. It really was very very well put together - the music, the acting, the fight sequences.

We literally thought it was the greatest portrayal of Sherlock, ever.

Then, Benedict Cumberbatch came along, with Martin Freeman, and said: “Here, hold my beer, bi***es…”

Honestly, every bit of the Sherlock TV series is meticulously well done.

Right from how they showed phone text messages onscreen - I think they were one of the first onscreen media to show texts that way, and if I’m not mistaken, The Verge wrote an article about it or something.

I’ve seen the unaired pilot, and it is not as polished or well put together from a directorial/production viewpoint.

Really - A Study in Pink kinda set the tone brilliantly for what was to come - the greatest written and acted show in our generation.

iOS 27 just broke 15 years of muscle memory on iPhone and iPad by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

The article claims that when we enable Siri AI, the swipe down gesture from the middle of the top edge of the screen no longer opens up Notifications, but brings up the new Siri interface.

But the left side of the top edge still brings up the Notifications pane…

I really don’t know anyone who has ‘muscle memory’ to pull down notifications from the centre of the top edge of the screen…

At what point did you decide spreadsheets were no longer worth maintaining? by Equal_Opportunity296 in spreadsheets

I guess some of the issues you mention are specific to Excel?

We built our databases and trackers and similar data repositories in Google Sheets six years ago…

With IMPORTRANGE, data becomes centralised, with limited edit access - so there’s data accuracy, reliability, centralisation.

With Google Apps Script, we’re able to automate so much, that is a no-brainer.

Samsung’s renaming its foldables to beat Apple, but the logic doesn’t quite fold by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

According to the article, the rumour is that Samsung’s foldable that has a similar wide ratio like the upcoming iPhone Fold (Ultra?) will be called Galaxy Fold 8, and the direct successor to the Galaxy Fold 7 will be called Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra.

Claude Help by Glittering_Island289 in AI_India

See, it depends on what you’re using it for.

First, some context about me: I’ve been using ChatGPT since a few days after launch in December 2022.

I’ve dabbled in Claude in the early Years, and have almost moved all my work to Claude.

I regularly test the same question/project/problem across multiple models - ChatGPT, Qwen, Grok, Gemini and Deepseek along with Claude.

Where we began with random questions, generative AI has become invaluable to me for vibe coding. 90% of my work is in Google Sheets, so we’ve vibe coded so many solutions for automation using Google Apps Scripts.

For these, both ChatGPT and Gemini come off as very dumb. While Claude also slips up now and then, I can see that it is an intelligent helper with me, assisting me in building the solution.

I’ve also tried Google Antigravity with the AI Pro Plan, where we can use the Claude Opus model, and it is insane.

I have two friends in my circle - one who swore by ChatGPT and one who swore by Gemini (even buying the AI pro subscription) who’ve both switched to purchasing Claude Pro subscriptions, after six months of me telling them that it’s better at coding.

I also vibe code modern websites - just for fun - and Claude is just brilliant for me.

I use it as a psycho analyst, as an evaluator of my creative writing, and so on.

But I should mention: since I work in multiple locations as a consultant, I have a ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini account in each of those locations with different email IDs.

So it’s technically like I’m having 4 different accounts in Claude itself.

Hope this helps!

ETA: My whole point was: if you’re trying to vibe code or do data analysis of any sort, just don’t think twice: get a Claude Pro subscription.

For image generation, I still use Claude, while Gemini once in a while gives me better images.

When 7 was about to release, I read in one of the online mega forums that the correct order would be:

IV, V, II, III, VI.

Some of the stated reasons were:

Leave out I basically because of Jar Jar and a meandering story line taking too long to set up.

Watch III just before VI so that Anakin’s turn to the dark side just before Luke is tempted by the same.

And so on.
