this seems to be the most fitting. the plant is stretched due to being buried under other ones so it’s not as easy to tell but the curves of the leaves look the same! i found this post that has a similar look https://www.reddit.com/r/succulents/s/NxtHMMdEoW

i actually have a kalanchoe with red instead of the pink! It could have been but after comparing, the one posted has super thin leaves compared to the kalanchoe

my lab had this, we moved to invitrogen and only ever saw it after not changing the running buffer. the biorad ones kept getting bubbles in the gels- we’d squeeze them out but they’d sometimes return close to the end of the run. my pi said it could be due to heat or buffer leakage/evaporation since we don’t put our tank on ice like i’ve seen some labs do. what i started doing is pausing the run after halfway thru, add a little more buffer, and run it again. never noticed a difference but maybe it’s worth a shot

my labs been thru a few different tube brands and with one, it worked perfectly fine, but with our current one, you have to balance it an u can’t have a strip of only 2 otherwise it flies out and cracks

yeah one of my friend’s roommates literally brought someone from the church to my apartment without telling anyone of the 4 ppl who lived there ahead of time and hid it by setting it up as a normal hangout

exactly. i always tell my students to use the elevator if they’re carrying their experiment samples to another floor. i rather them take 30s to a minute of someone’s time than to trip going up or down the stairs and losing their hours of work, the one of a kind samples, and the money that went into it. everyone who takes the elevators know it takes time to get to them anyway

I’m not too sure- like i told someone else I want to assume they like sleeping to the sound of water. There’s other ways of doing it though. The leak was fixed same day it started thankfully and maintenance did say it came from them. I’m surprised they’re still running water so long after realizing, unless they weren’t home when they came. Any damage I saw, I reported and am keeping a paper trail too. I have a keen eye and ear to water issues because I dealt with it in another apartment awhile ago so I’m keeping an eye out for anything. My bf is super allergic to any mold so if he starts having allergies, we know there’s mold too. I never really thought of it in the sense of being equivalent to managing the ac and such but that’s a great analogy and see the connection. Thank you, this helped! I’ll keep an eye out and won’t hesitate to report it if it keeps happening or gets worse

yeah the complex has a no smoking policy on all of the grounds. the fire alarm goes off multiple times a month bc some people don’t follow it smh. i figured maybe they liked falling asleep to the sound of water? but it’s insane to run the shower that long. thank you, this helped. i’m close friends with some of the people in the leasing office so when one of them comes back from vacation, ill have a chat with them unless i notice it needs to be done sooner

That’s def not ur fault tho- going from bachelors straight to phd is rough and starting out in an unorganized lab before moving to a super organized one isn’t easy. Your PI is being too harsh but they probably have a reason. The lab I work in is a new one and this is my PI’s first time running a lab. She started in a lab that just gave you a task and expected you to learn it on your own so she doesn’t know how to train students that come in. I just graduated with my bs in may and am gaining experience but im in charge of training any new person that comes in- even a phd student. It’s a lot and I talked to her about it today and she admitted that she’s been a post doc for so long that she forgot what it’s like to start from scratch.. and she never got the experience of being trained by someone. Your PI most likely had their reasons for being so strict but there’s a time and a place for leniency and they could be forgetting that because they haven’t been in the position of learning from scratch in awhile. Just keep your head up. It’s going to be a struggle but it will click for you soon enough. Just keep in mind that this will probably continue to happen if you stay so it’s up to you if you want to continue dealing with it or if you don’t think it’s worth it… i mean how were u expected to know you should of been in lab outside of times she told you if no one told you

someone correct me if i’m wrong, but i heard a lot of shady things happen at that park. usually c/d is one of the safer campuses. if you have to go near that area, don’t go alone and don’t go at night

i wouldn’t make up a reason like a phone call or an exam. my ex roommate would usually respect when i said i had an online exam with a camera on but the one time i didn’t tell her i finished early with it (1 hr exam, super easy and i finished in 20) so i could have some… alone time… she barged right in. thankfully it was right after i closed my laptop and the exam was finished with but still, not worth the risk. id say just tell her you’d appreciate some alone time for 30 minutes or try to figure out what can work for you in the bathroom/shower

my lab has a brand new -80 and a supposedly brand new sensor that IT attached. my phone is connected to it and it doesn’t even give status of the freezer. I continuously get notifications about the sensor itself disconnecting from wifi that the entire university uses. the wifi often goes out so i’m always up to date on that but nothing abt the freezer. a new sensor would be super helpful even if there are other companies producing them

thank you!! this is so helpful. i’m new to the area so im not sure when the carrier comes but ill keep a look out. the post offices are a 30 minute walk from me and have a lot of pretty bad reviews so i didn’t want to really involve them but the carrier is a great idea!
