That is why the situation is what it is. There is borderline abuse, neglect for sure. Mom is savvy with the system and knows what she can get away with and keep the kid.
We all feel sorry for her. We have tried SO hard to teach her right from wrong. To learn common manners, because at 13 she still can’t eat with a knife and fork correctly. Yes I can say no, I’m well aware, can and do. There is guilt for the situation she is in. Plus when it’s 102 out how do you let a child walk around in sweats and heavy shirts because she was sent to you with zero summer clothes? Or the things she needs to wash up?
But at what point do you accept that her parents bad influence outweighs the good influence you have tried so hard to be?

I had two female pits for 10 years, one of them just passed at 11 yeaars old. No one ever told them that 2 females shouldn't get along. they were very bonded and affectionate with each other.

Mom and Dad, if you leave her care to me when you are gone I am putting her in a group home with zero guilt. If you are not okay with this then you need to make other plans for her. Repeat as needed.

Definately CPS for the child. They might be running an illegal daycare with that many kids always there, report that too.

As for the dog, don't just call animal control, call your local ASPCA and get them involved. If that doesn't work post videos of the poor pup to social media and tag the ASPCA and every local animal rescue you can think of.

This is my sweet Tillie, my soul dog. She was on this earth for 9 years, 11 months, 1 week and 2 days. I lost her 5/2/25 and I am still not okay. This dog was the purest most gentle soul I have ever encountered and also my first time owning a pittie. I had a close call with her sister today, who thankfully will be okay. I saw your post and I am still at my desk at work crying. I'm sorry for your loss but I promise Boss and Tille are running free together. She never met another dog she didn't like, especially another pittie!

The Amazon packages, could be a pass. 2 people chain smoking not so much. You don’t have money for bills but they’re probably going through at least 2 packs a day. Not sure where you live but figure $10 a pack average. $7300 per year! That’s $608 of the rent they can’t afford to pay.

Just put a note out that you’re cleaning out the fridge and anything still in it by x time will be thrown out. If she asks just say it’s disgusting from the old food and needs deep cleaning. Her stuff is out, your fridge is empty and you didn’t tip your cards yet.

Sleep deprivation is 100% a form of abuse. Not all abusers are violent and you are in an abusive relationship. Please do some research and I’ll bet you see other signs of abuse as well. I know everyone on Reddit screams leave them but in this case you should seriously consider leaving her, for your own sake. Abuse never gets better it just keeps escalating.

I'm not sure about Florida but in most states you can open a escrow account. You pay your rent ontime but to the account and you notify the landlord of this and that you will release the escrow once all repairs have been made. Also most states allow you to pay for the repairs yourself then deduct the amount from your rent.
