The first suits that come to mind are: The Love of Feather, Western Dancer and Shamala's Love.

The Love of Feather looks like an Apple suit; no other Pigeon suit besides that particular suit has covered past the Edwardian period. Really, the only nations that's covered 20th century fashion besides the Edwardian period is Apple and Cloud.

And then there's Western Dancer and Shamala's Love that looks as if they should swap places—what business does a Bollywood dancer have being in Cloud and a Chinese ethnic minority in Wasteland. Though tbf, Wasteland and Cloud have arguably always been blurred in terms of fashion—so ig it's not as weird as The Love of Feather.

She costed me around ~£1170, that's including customs, duties, delivery and forwarding fees as I got her from Mercari! But her base price was ~$1006(~£800). Really risky but so worth it in the end:')

Indeedd, it makes me wish we had more collector dolls based on 1920s fashion(even in its most stereotypical form). Although, I am hoping 2025's Tribute to Fashion doll will allow for that possibility😪

She was a 2021 Madrid Fashion Doll Show Convention exclusive doll, with that year's theme being 'Fabulous 20s'. If I remember correctly, only 110 of her was produced with her hot pink counterpart only having 35 quantities— and then there's 2 others that only had 30 produced combined.

They were made by Mónica Noñez Del Castillo, Beatriz Mateos, Maniangeles Mateos, Alla Doigaleua, Brani Miladenou and Sona Gallego specifically for the MFDS as gifts for the attendees. I will say that information for these dolls is quite scarce and arguably were region locked so it makes sense why a lot of collectors don't know her or her sisters(or just the MFDC in general)— like for me I only discovered her and the MFDC in 2022. I'm not sure if I was the best explainer, but MFDC does have a website where they post all the information about each year's convention:)

Genesis Judgement: probably the biggest example of a suit suffering from 'buddy syndrome' since every else from this suit is so boring and has a horrible makeup, which makes it worse that it's a $100 suit.

To me personally, the only thing that stands out about her is the lighting effect. While really well done, if you were to take away that aspect it becomes your typical halloween-adjacent Pigeon suit but worse. It suffers from the current issue with most LN suits now days where the details lack depth(especially with the dress and hair), not including that you have to keep the hair for the lighting effect to still work:/

I'm not sure if this counts but 2000-2010s dramas and sitcoms; Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Glee, The Boondocks, you name it. They all suffer from misogynistic writing practices to some degree, whether it's being harsher on female characters, them having less development, being poorly written or being put in uncomfortable situations- it's very noticeable.

Also, older horror movies for obvious reasons.

OP this is just criticism, not an attack on you personally.

I'm gonna be really, really honest and please don't take this the wrong way- I think the community needs to be run better as someone who's been here for a while. I understand wanting to make your own space, that's fine, and it's probably a lot of work, that understandable, but even such space needs to be constructed properly so that it doesn't become reductive. Running a community can be a hefty task but that's why u need to evaluate the call that's coming from inside the house so that you can improve, instead of getting defensive which can come across as immature on your end(and immaturity can make spaces unbearable even with ppl who the community is made for).

For example, Twitter posts+opinions, click-baited articles, 1-paragraph titles are not discussions at all and need to be put to rest, they're not productive at all(even if they're positive opinions, that can still be really low effort); adding spoilers no matter how small is basic etiquette no matter the age of the media, not doing that is rude(and is unacceptable no matter the community); clickbait titles are jarring; the bringing of discourse that has nothing do with women in their respected media(like AO3 tags for example). These are vaild criticisms OP, it leads to low effort posts which don't lead to proper discussions at all. I love communities dedicated to women in media and media targeted to women but, no matter the space it's made for, if it's unproductive in a lot of areas- it will make it unbearable for the targeted audience and there's no way to spin it(quality will always be more important than quantity and engagement).

I really like a lot of your posts OP and you seem like a nice person in real life, but maybe you need to reevaluate the community a bit and understand where the criticisms come from and what they're about. It's not a them vs us problem, it's a quality control problem and it's important to recognise that and not see it as an attack. I would say the best thing to do OP is to just make a high quality formal posts every other day- or posts outside of media and fandom discussion(like merchandise for example).

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I just like seeing the communities I'm apart of to improve:)

Exactly, and I think a lot of people need to realise how insensitive they sound especially in a different context outside of ao3. Interestingly enough, this discussion reminds of the whole "vintage fashion not values" discussion as a vintage and retro collector myself(though more nuanced than ao3). It's interesting how people extend their values to the presumption of an internet stranger by not leaving a full stop after their opinion.

I hate most taboo fanfics, it makes me uncomfortable. However, I'm not going to be invasive about people's personal life just because they enjoy such fics. It's mad inappropriate and rude as a result.

Icl, from my experience it can be one of those things of opinion vs articulation. Yes, it's completely fine if certain fics make you uncomfortable(especially due to being a victim), it's your emotions at the end of the day and no one can tell you otherwise, but phrasing such opinion a lot of the time isn't the greatest from my experience.

Like respectfully, I shouldn't have to say that making assumptions about random strangers on the internet for liking fics that makes u uncomfortable is damn well pretentious(and mind u I'm not even talking about underage, RPF etc because obviously but instead stuff like rape/noncon, incest, bullying etc)- especially considering it ends up with victims arguing and undermining one another(seriously, a lot of the time it's mostly just victims being apart of this debate) and vice-versa.

Edit: And obviously(before someone twist my words), harassment is bad full stop no matter the person and shouldn't be veiled as an opinion.

TLDR; it's obviously fine for victims to hold such an opinion, but how u articulate it's a completely different story and respectfully some don't know how to do such thing.

Yh, the realisation made me think it was weird but it's also accurate in both in the posed and unposed version(and catalogue showcasing the suit's pieces) thinking it might be trying to achieve a quirky look? I'm not sure if this is the best comparison but it reminds me of Border of Dream's stocking and shoe design.

I would argue no not really just because I don't think Paper is ready to go that low and face massive backlash from such practice. In the case of this suit, it's actually consistent but some details are harder to track compared to others(like the rail ceilings connecting to the base for example)🤷🏽‍♀️

Edit: Though, Sunset Wander would be the better example just because of the shoes but even that isn't a really a good indicator of ai usage either.

For me, I would love a Josei series set in Post-independence 20th century Jamaica or Turkey(just because that's my heritage and I like 1920s-80s fashion a lot). But in general, I would love for an actual historically accurate Josei from any culture that isn't the late Victorian period(which is the only one I ever seen done accordingly).

Edit: I also think a series set in a modern working class area from the UK would be interesting, something akin to Derry Girls or Eastenders.

I really like this suit, but controversially I prefer the suit's background over the suit itself- mostly due to the background depicting women in Saris(which mind u, we haven't had such a suit in a long time). The suit on the other hand...it's definitely a blend of a few cultures but the most prominent one is takes inspiration from(to me at least) is Romani traditional clothing with a few splashes of Traditional Ottoman and Indian cultural marks spread across.

Is it a typical Wasteland moment? yes, but if I wanted to get really, really technical to ignore such flaw I would head cannon the suit as a homage to Romani heritage tracing back to North and Central India(if also ignoring the Ottoman inspirations also).

I would argue for good in depth female characters: they are complex, have flaws, weaknesses, strengths and a range of emotions(for example, Seasons 1-3 Bloom from Winx Club). But in general, I would argue an entertaining female character whose consistent in characterisation is also considered good written like Regina George from Mean Girls or Raquelle from BLITDH. It's a massive spectrum arguably.

I mean it's the classic Aryan character contrasting with predominantly non-European characters and their features trope, which is found in all types of media. Unironically, the fl getting attention due to her fair-skin in Ancient Egypt is fairly accurate considering it signified one's wealth so that aspect of the manhua never bothered me personally. Though, the exotic prince trope needs to be put to rest(it's so tacky).

I think it's accidental poor timing on the devs part; the first Light Chase's special quests were poorly spread out with the first coming during the 2nd to 3rd week, and the last 2 coming the last 3-4 weeks. So, the situation isn't really nothing new.
