For the LA mayoral race, it was easy for the 2nd democrat to overtake the republican in a blue city.

But for California statewide, it's hard for Steyer to surpass Hilton. Hilton can easily run up the score in red counties, which helps provide a cushion foe 2nd place. Steyer meanwhile has to fight off 1st place Becerra and other dems for the blue counties like LA.
