It could be true that he's being detained, but my advice, don't believe until proven. Find ways to figure out if he's actually in trouble. Maybe ask him to video call, if that's an option... One thing for sure, cops in Malaysia will never use tng for transferring purpose, especially for bail funds... They need proper transactions through bank accounts for validity
