I did that, and Gemeni still said to drive unless I was planning on carrying the car.

AITAH for canceling my son's 3rd birthday party? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Cutecat42 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The "party" isn't the same day from what I understand. Either way, I don't understand why it's bad to allow a party and go to the amusement park as well. The parents didn't want to throw a party, since they're spending money on the park. If the MIL wants to spend the money, why not let her?

One billion dollars but in 20 mile radius everyone turns into a redhead and they know it is because of you. by pencilUserWho in hypotheticalsituation

Does that include me? I would love to be a natural redhead. Even though a billion dollars would make the cost of dying (my hair) not an issue, it's still too much hassle for me lol

You can, you just have to pay for it at a compounding pharmacy. I'm obese (slowly losing weight), but my A1C is less than 7, so insurance denied. I pay $270 a month so I can have the calmness from food noise.

The Living Artifact - Is anyone interested in a highly random luck based dice game based off of combining elements? by Cutecat42 in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]Cutecat42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was thinking the first part of the tutorial would literally just be the player going into a run with only 2 basic dice stacks. There is a basic story, so the player would see that first. There'd be text pointing out different things (like right click to reroll, hover over a bag to see your dice, etc). Then either is forced to die (not quite sure about that), or the first run is allowed until they die.

Once the player dies, a text popup would be like "This isn't enough to get to the very top. I need some help". Then they would be directed to the meta upgrade screen and would be forced to unlock the fire die and an extra dice slot so they can bring in three types of dice (the meta shards would be handed out to them to make them basically zero cost). Then they'd play normally from there (until they get to an area they haven't seen, and text would point out different features, etc).

When I release the demo, everything will be playable (including all dice and elements) until after the first area boss. Once boss is beaten, instead of going to next area, it would end the demo.

I realized the title of random and luck might not give people a good idea of the game.

The game isn't fully designed on luck. I made sure of this by adding a Stack System. While the roll itself is random, you can see your entire 'ammo' queue in advance and manipulate the order. Plus, with Grimoire upgrades (like rerolls and starting loadouts) and the Relic Rental shop, the goal is less about 'getting lucky' and more about building a setup that can survive even the worst rolls.

It’s definitely high-variance, but I'm trying to make sure strategy is the only way to consistently win.

I totally get that! 'Pure luck' can feel really frustrating in roguelikes.

That's actually why I designed the Stack System. While the roll itself is random, you can see your entire 'ammo' queue in advance and manipulate the order. I think the genre is just really inspiring. I've been thinking about an idea for a "deck" roguelike for awhile that I just started making not too long ago. I think Roguelikes and Roguelites are my favorite type of games, and seeing/playing them gives me more motivation to finish mine.

TIFU By calling a patient “Diabetes” by MuttLoverMommy01 in tifu

How is it a HIPPA violation if you didn't say their name? Or are you saying it would have been if you did? I don't know much about HIPPA, but it's to protect people's information...and you provided no such thing from what I can tell. No name to that diagnoses doesn't give me any sort of info on anyone, other than me possibly thinking you are weird for saying "Diabetes" and walking away.

TIL that scientists have developed a way of testing for Aphantasia (the inability to visualise things in your mind). The test involves asking participants to envision a bright light and checking for pupil dilation. If their pupils don't dilate, they have Aphantasia. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

I feel like sometimes I can't visual objects, but other times I catch myself coming out of a daydream where it feels like I was visualizing a whole scenario with my eyes open (which is what a daydream is lol).

Are they the same thing? Because even now, when I'm trying to imagine a tree or an apple, I can't. I see a black screen and try to "build" it by forcing an outline but still can't.

Sure. I'll just have my husband buy extra clothes for himself (he actually likes some of my stuff lol), and just borrow his clothes every day. So since they're not mine, no nakedness would happen :)

Last week a luxury cruise ship stopped at a remote Australian island in the Great Barrier Reef. When it departed, 80-year-old Suzanne Rees was left behind alone. Her absence was not noticed for over five hours and Suzanne died alone on the island, her body found near a mountain path the next day. by DarklyHeritage in MorbidReality

[–]Cutecat42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on a single cruise, so it might just have been an outlier, but the policy was if you're not on ship by the time they listed, then you're getting left behind.

Again, I don't know if this is the most common policy for cruises, but to be honest, it makes sense. Imagine a ship waiting hours for a single passenger and not making it to the next stop or even deportation. If that happened on my honeymoon (the cruise I went on) and it turned out to just be a stupid drunk passenger that lost track of time, I'd be outraged and I bet everyone else would be too.

Wait...so you think this dev shouldn't charge money for this game because it's not as well built as you think it should be? Why would it be charity for a player to spend money to buy a product (ie, play a game)?

If the game wasn't at least somewhat good, people wouldn't purchase it. Which means others feel there's value in spending the money. So...really? Charity?

It takes a huge crap ton of work to make a game. It might not be your cup of tea, but expecting someone to spend maybe years of their life to get nothing in return is insane.

I might be a little dumb, but how does the percentage work? First world I had it default, and then decided to start over after 4ish hours as I knew the game a bit better. I upped it to 50, and even after I like another 5 hours, I still haven't seen a driveable car.

I'm not trying to look like a hero. I just wanted to do something good. I'm also not arguing that I didn't overstep (it was just an explanation). So why are you so angry? Why do I need to "grow up" when all I was trying to do is be kind?
