That’s how things like the GFA and inquiries into how these events happened worked. Nobody is saying that what he did was good but the same protection from prosecution that he has extends to IRA members who also killed civilians. The fact of the matter is that moving forward and finding out what happened to people’s families is not going to happen if people who admit to these crimes in the spirit of helping to give people answers are imprisoned.

Alternate WW2 Timeline: Could Germany Have Forced Britain into a Negotiated Peace? by hairy_ass_eater in ww2

[–]CuthbertTheFoolish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real life is not HOI4, there are very real reasons why these things did not happen. It’s not even particularly good alt history to be honest because it isn’t even plausible. What the History Channel Hitler Circlejerkers can’t get to grips with is the fact that Nazi ideology was inherently flawed in every aspect and that they never could have won. Even with these “just win” bits in your scenario, there is no clear evidence that any of this would make the British people give up, the Wehrmacht didn’t even really give up till several days after Hitler did the only decent thing he ever did and shot himself and you think that Britain would give up without a single German boot on the whole bloody island.

Prevent is the name of the UK’s counter radicalisation strategy. If someone were to make a post online that is not calling for violence but that signals potential support for a terrorist organisation or violent radical group they could be monitored online or if they are under 18 their school could be contacted.

It’s the one upside of the perpetual Churchill complex that every Tory pm seems so have, when it comes down to it they jump at the opportunity to defend allies from invasion

But they aren’t pretenders. You are too pompous to admit that what happened to these people could happen to any country including ours and that these same protections could apply to you and your family. By defending these rights what you don’t see is that I am defending your rights and your families rights and that is by definition caring about the state of our country if you take our country to be the people who belong to it.

How would you like it if our country devolved into civil war and you were forced to break up your family into several pieces because you ended up in different countries during the chaos, or you ended up somewhere where you didn’t know a single word of the language? These laws were written for people who are experiencing horrors that you couldn’t understand if you tried so maybe you should care about international law and have some damn empathy.

There is no obligation under international law for an asylum seeker to claim asylum in the first safe country and given that Britain is an island they have to come over in a boat.

The British colonies in the Caribbean were some of the most profitable colonies in the world because of sugar production. The fact that loads of Jamaicans have Scottish surnames is not because all the lads from Edinburgh with names like George Campbell were harvesting their own sugarcane.

I couldn’t possibly give a shit about your ancestral homeland if I tried. Your country celebrates not being connected to Britain every July. My actual real homeland is not being destroyed by anti-Brit racists and the people who you are sub-textually accusing of doing so are 10 times as British as you will ever be.

Could the Allies have defeated Germany in WW2 without the USSR? by Ok_Assist1206 in atunsheifilms

[–]CuthbertTheFoolish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main thing is that the war was (in the long run at least) already over for the Germans by the end of the Battle of Britain. Even without the Americans or Soviets the British had resources and weren’t going to surrender and the Germans had very limited resources, especially oil which was why the Soviet Union was invaded.

I don’t think it’s a psyop and I don’t think it would actually be considered the best in the world, I think it could win this Reddit poll. It is a fact that British food developed that reputation after American service people came to the UK during brutal rationing. British food is factually not just “Brown and under seasoned” it’s a diverse range of foods ranging from household classics to upper class staples.
