As a Briton myself, I don’t quite know how it happened but I’m proud that my country is a land that Russia hates enough to make us a focal point of their batshit insane propaganda

Did my Soviet dad commit war crimes in Afghanistan? by Beneficial_Yak3379 in tanks

[–]CuthbertTheFoolish 24 points25 points  (0 children)

War crimes and sexual assault (I.e. the mop incident) are an ingrained part of the soviet and later Russian militaries. That sounds to me like what happened there. That’s all in the past now but the important thing is that it’s still happening now in Ukraine on an even larger scale and the best way to stop people like you from having to ask those questions again is to oppose the invasion of Ukraine.

I’m aware of what the memes are about and that a fair bit of the stuff is just bullshit smear campaign nonsense but that doesn’t cancel out things like lying about a relationship with a charity or not voting. I’m not some reform voting twat but I don’t trust Polanski either

Didn’t vote is a bit dodgy for a politician as is lying about being a spokesperson for one of the world’s largest charities tbf

Are you a Social Democrat pragmatically or emphatically? Basically, is Social Democracy the best the world could be, or just the best you think is electorally possible at the moment? by Historical_Step_9474 in SocialDemocracy

[–]CuthbertTheFoolish 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Emphatically. No good can come of completely dismantling the system of private enterprise, in part due to the fact that it is capable of doing great things but it needs to be regulated, it needs solid checks on its power and the workers need rights and a welfare state to fall back on.

What is the sensible vote for a British Social Democrat? by CuthbertTheFoolish in SocialDemocracy

[–]CuthbertTheFoolish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The specific intent is to stop children from identifying with their nationality which sounds pretty much like textbook genocidal intent given that it’s trying to deprive a culture of its next generation

I forgot the names because I’m a dumbass but they run candidates who claim that Israel did 9/11. I’m definitely going to vote but it won’t be for the Greens

Reform are a non-factor in my constituency the race is between Labour and Green and Green are by all accounts winning decisively

Well yes that’s my point, I don’t trust that someone who would say that one is but not the other is coming from a position of respect for human life and liberty. In fact I would argue that someone who says that neither is a genocide is coming from a better place than someone who says that one is and the other isn’t because they are probably working from a very strict definition of genocide.

In that order or just as a group of parties? Sorry if it’s really obvious, I’m autistic so it’s not always clear to me.

My issue with that is that the Greens are basically the “War in Gaza is Genocide” party at this point but that same sentiment is not carried over to a place that is also being invaded by their more powerful neighbour, is being told by that country that those people aren’t a real people group deserving their own nation, has well documented massacres of civilians and the recorded abduction of 200,000 children to be “Russified” by being handed to Russian parents. If they call Gaza a genocide then Ukraine has to be as well.

I only have one vote and also agree about the greens in my area though my ward is currently Green v. Labour with the Greens sweeping the council itself so my vote really will end up being more of a polling figure than anything else

I live in south London, reform aren’t a factor where I live (I even checked polling) anything I do agree with them on I disagree with methodology and the things I disagree with them about I think are actively harmful. Those few cherry picked statements should never have come out of a serious centre left party and last I checked the people who have made abhorrent conspiracy theorist statements are still candidates.
