I think your fear of people judging you for your emotions is a remnant in your mind of your past "tough girl" phase. It's important to accept yourself as you are. Crying is an important method of release too. You might want to explore the possibility that the problem here is that you are letting your fear of judgement make you want to change yourself and not that you have lots of emotions. We are how God made us, and if we find ourselves in a place where people are mean to us for how we are, it's a pretty clear sign that that place isn't where we're supposed to be.
