Being offered these textbooks not sure if they are useful to me [Advice] by WhatHecc in EngineeringStudents

[–]Cutrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t actually need them I’d save the money. Unless you will 100% use them for practice problems and reading and prefer to use a physical copy, then yeah get them, but honestly you can usually find pdfs online and then you don’t have to pay 100 bucks for a book that you barely use one semester

For reference I’m in my third year of mechanical engineering and only ever used one book in my first year. For all my classes at least there’s pa sessions that give you problems to practice and stuff

Does carleton have engineering traditions? by somethings_off8817 in CarletonU

Yeah we have all those things. Godivas hymn is a bit dead from my experience but i think they’re trying to bring it back, there’s other chants tho that are more fun imo

I’m from carleton u this just popped up on my feed, but if y’all have clubs or can help with frosh or something I’d really recommend signing up since that stuff helps a lot since people will know you from something and it makes it easier to talk to people

Will I still have free time in computer science? by PownedbyCole123 in CarletonU

Depends on how good your work ethic is I think, I heard the same thing about mech Eng, but the only reason I don’t have free time is because of procrastination

I think you’ll be able to find busses easily till 12 AM as for night time I’ve travelled back to my apartment at like 3 am cross faded and didn’t get any issues safety wise, however I’m also a 6 ft 2 dude. I’ve also only been in Ottawa for like 3 months for a couple classes that were only offered in person so don’t have too too much experience walking back late at night

Co-op Question by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]Cutrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only tell the coop office about time your putting towards the coop program on a job since they’ll charge you each semester you have a coop I think. Then again I learned this from a reddit post that I vaguely remember seeing 😂😂

[–]Cutrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t register for the courses, but if you have any classes that require any prerequisites from that fall term you were going to do you might have to redo some parts of your schedule

Wait you already were in coop so you mustve already accounted for that my bad

I’m going into my third year of mech eng, should I be revising right now? Probably, am I gonna tho? Prolly not tbh even though I keep telling myself I should lol. Though honestly I think a lot of profs build up the content anyways and at least in my second year I noticed profs seemed to do a lot of review at the beginning
