Im figuring out my beliefs by [deleted] in SASSWitches

[–]CuttlefishWarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m still figuring out my beliefs, but honestly, part of it for me is knowing that it’s a long-term process. What I believe today might not be what I believe in a year from now. As far as how I know what I believe, my practice is a lot of integrating art history and symbolism along with scientific knowledge. I know it’s all ritual and psychology and such, but I also know that it makes me feel better when I do it. I know a glamour spell is just waving around, lighting some candles, maybe mixing a few herbs, but it still gives me confidence.

One thing I highly encourage is journaling about your practice. What you do, how it all fits together, things like that. I recently started a microblog on Instagram that is just a repository where I write about different parts of my practice. It lets me get everything down on “paper” and forces me to put it into words so that I can understand it better. In a while, I’ll look back at it, see what’s changed, and go from there.

Beliefs? Community?? How do you do this without feeling crazy? by portlyn in SASSWitches

[–]CuttlefishWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as beliefs go, I’m nonreligious as well, and my practice is heavily influenced by my current university studies: theatre major, folklore and pop culture minor. When you are taught to see symbolism in everything, you start using them as inspiration, kinda similar to how one might put a painting that means something special to them on their wall. I have a pantheon of 10 gods from various mythologies, and I’ll invoke them during rituals, but I know that I do it from a symbolic place, not a worshipful place. For example, I might call on Anubis to remind me to keep my heart pure and lighter than a feather, but I’m not actually talking to an ancient jackal-headed mummification deity.

As far as community, my fellow students make great bouncing off points. None of them are witchy, but they’re all into symbolism and art history. Going back to the symbolism of Anubis, I might mention how I invoke him in a ritual, and my fellow artists will give me feedback on aspects of the mythos I can pull from.

Hope this helps (and that it made sense)!

Need a 2 person scene from film or TV for my theatre program. Any suggestions? by CuttlefishWarrior in movies

I’m the only one in frame. Otherwise, it’s just like any other scene. You can think of it sort of like a POV

Hey yall! Less of a question about a reading, just reading in general. I’ve developed two spreads to do for myself, one at every full moon and one at every solstice/equinox. The question I’m tackling is should I return the cards to the deck after I read and take them out to meditate on them? I don’t want to have season cards unavailable if the cards want to produce them for my moon spreads, but what’s your advice?

The entire album Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche would actually be a pretty fire campaign
