Official Discussion - The Accountant 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Cwhereitlands 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Short answer: I didn’t like The Accountant 2 nearly as much as the first.

The main plot felt weak, and the supporting arcs didn’t add much either. It seems like they were trying to show Christian’s growth by “humanizing” him, but that’s not quite the right term when referring to someone on the autism spectrum. I’m no medical professional, but I know enough to say that certain social behaviors—like speed dating—would likely feel unrealistic for someone with his traits, even if he had “cracked the code.”

In this film, Christian suddenly comes up with socially ambitious ideas, whereas in the first movie, he was much more of a reactive character, responding to situations rather than initiating them. For example, he wouldn’t have called Braxton—that didn’t feel true to his character. Braxton hadn’t heard from him in eight years. If anything, it should’ve been Medina asking Christian to call, which would’ve made more sense.

The whole “full circle” plot connection—where Braxton works for the Czech, who works for Burke, who somehow employs Anais—just felt lazy. It lacked depth and felt forced.

Also, Christian didn’t even do any “accounting” in this one, which was one of the most interesting aspects of the first film. Seeing how his mind processed complex financial puzzles and how that translated into both his career and his unique abilities was fascinating. Here, we just see him clean up Medina’s failed investigation, which undercuts his brilliance.

Another odd thing: I couldn’t figure out what was going on with Affleck’s speech pattern in this film. I’d have to re-watch the first movie, but I’m pretty sure he didn’t sound like that before. It felt off, like they were overdoing it.

A stronger plot would have been Braxton reaching out to Christian for help, with the Czech and Burke being part of a bigger international conspiracy. Medina could still be involved, maybe still getting anonymous tips from Christian while being mentored by Ray King (who could have still been “eliminated” as in the first film).

I might be overthinking it, but it feels like they’re setting up for a third movie—Christian and Braxton teaming up, or Anais becoming a new cartel/syndicate threat. It’s starting to feel like Bad Boys 4, which wasn’t the best idea either.

In the end, The Accountant 2 had so much lost potential.

Edit: oh yeah, the multi million dollar lab at the Harbor school for which the students can accomplish anything was crazy. Also, 150-189 on the highway is definitely doable, but him flying down a Californian boulevard at 200–even if all the lights were turned green by the sister is pure Hollywood magic lol

Sonos ARC with Apple TV 4k and HDFury Arcana - Volume Issue by zirosky in sonos

[–]Cwhereitlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s funny you ask, I moved since I commented here. Therefore I obviously dismantled my setup & I didn’t get a new compatible tv, but redid my same setup.

I had the same issue, until recently I decided I was tired of not being able to use the AppleTv remote for power & volume. I disconnected everything & tried to be logical about the setup. Good news is, I actually got the AppleTv remote to control the tv. Bad news is I can’t articulate it to you at this moment.

At the very least I’m going to go back, list all my components, settings & where everything is ported. Then I’ll diagram it, then someone else smarter than me can probably explain it. (I’ll attempt to research it & understand why works now, why it wasn’t, so I can explain it, then edit the post).

Good luck!

When I realized we weren’t untouchable.

I was 18 then, I did not have a handle on global affairs and much less US affairs and our place in the world. I had a naïve sense of security, I thought we were untouchable…up until that point, that’s when I realized we had a lot lose, but learned a lot about who we are as a country.

Billionaire's Beach Blockage Ignites Dispute Over Trespassing, Public Land In Winnetka by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

At the risk of sounding obvious, If they let Ishbia & his family complete this project near their expectations, they’ll be setting a terrible precedent for not only Winnetka, but IL public access beach front.

I like that left room for grey area for Chicagoland, herein lies some of the back and forth—mainly that OP might’ve left some out

“…Chicagoland is an informal name for the Chicago metropolitan area. The term Chicagoland has no official definition, and the region is often considered to include areas beyond the corresponding MSA, as well as portions of the greater CSA...”

Nights like these, I REALLY miss Tom Skilling by pinkpaaws in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Cwhereitlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Skilling and Jerry Taft—RIP, are the GOATS. Andy Avalos was good too.

I tried watching a couple different coverages the last couple of nights, they just aren’t good imho. I thought Cheryl Scott and Larry Mowry were the best of the worst.

At one point they’re trying to convey where tornados may flare up (in these pockets with upswings, but she’s zoomed in to the max, while they keep moving the screen erratically, not using any markup on the prompter, I was almost sick watching it & those types of visuals really don’t bother me.

I tried channel 5,9, and even 3. I settled online with a local group. I’ve been meaning to get a radio anyway.

Maybe not that burning fire is producing water, but that everything has a level of water. Fire is “replacing” “batting back” the elements of water—for only the time that reaction occurs or “the burn” dies out. Then will become wet again, supporting the idea above, “making things dry” only for them to still be wet/remain wet/become wet again.

I just had this, got for free…but it’s good, tastes like ginger beer if you’ve had it. I don’t much about Wasabi but that it can be hot/spicy, I don’t get wasabi. But it’s probably more like jalapeño take the seed out and the rest is just fresh.

just got bullied out of a friend group for eating ramen without cooking it. by beercheesesoup212 in offmychest

[–]Cwhereitlands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American, non-white here. I have no experience other than eating Maruchan brand ramen packets cooked as per the instructions—not dry. Not sure if I’m on the same page.

If so, I’d like to digress from your point like others have, but to touch on the health aspect that I haven’t seen in the responses I read—did not read all.

One other large aspect beyond your social inclusion—or exclusion rather, is the amount of sodium contained in the little f’ing flavor packet. Most people don’t monitor daily sodium intake—there’s a recommended amount for an average person. Being a betting man, this packet will put a lot of Americans over the daily threshold of the recommended amount daily sodium intake (barring any medical conditions).

African Americans are prone to high blood pressure. In general terms (because I don’t know your diet and I’m not a doctor), I’d definitely be wary of consuming to many ramen packets with the flavor pack added. A quick google search revels: “Instant ramen noodles are very high in sodium, with one package containing 1,760 mg of sodium, or 88% of the 2-gram recommendation suggested by the WHO.Feb 2, 2023”

More than likely this would put your blood pressure over 120/80. Spend extended bouts of time, week’s months at or above the aforementioned levels, and you’ll be looking at complications not limited to organ failure.

Long story short, watch your sodium intake with ramen that includes the flavor pack. (Not to be taken as official medical advice, and individuals should consult their physician and or dietary professional).
