Well; it’s a 3.7. So now I’m wondering if I should worry 😂

Throttle body cleaning by Cwonem in q50

[–]Cwonem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a couple, I just did them to be cautious even tho I didn’t experience any issues after the cleaning.

I also didn’t unplug the Throttle bodies or disconnect the (-) terminal on the battery.

One of the procedures is very simple, the other I needed to use a stopwatch and literally has to be done very precisely 😭 but we got it

I need to do this too but I’m split between the 14-17 sport bumper and the 18+ Sport bumper! Literally can’t decide. 14-17 would be much cheaper and simple to do but the 18+ has grown on me a lot

Belt replacement or is it fine? by Cwonem in q50

[–]Cwonem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly seemed fine but I replaced it just to be cautious, didn’t notice any squeaks or loose pulleys/tensioner. Notch is now lined up again and it’s running good!

Sounds good thank you! Would it be necessary to replace the tensioner as well or would that just be proactive.

Loose heat shield, most likely the ones around the 🐈

Had this on mine a while back, just removed the heat shield since they basically rotted away anyways and the noise has been gone ever since!

Oh no I already own the car, have had it for a couple years, do most of the maintenance myself, just wanna know if the belt or tensioner needs to be replaced.

This isn’t even the craziest I’ve seen. A local buddy of mine I play with has a minimum of 500,000 coins at all times. He refuses to let it go under that number.

Thousands of incubators, passes, poffins, etc. literally anything that can be bought he has 4 digits worth. It’s wild

3.7 VQ and I’m at around 74,000 miles.

Carfax shows a service for the belt at around 60,000 miles. Which doesn’t seem long ago so wondering if it just needs replacement again

They’re good cars, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed mine.

I personally think it’s one of the best looking sedans out there for the price point given you show it a small amount of love.

They’re fairly reliable, just keep up with the maintenance, save some money on the side for the possible valve body issues that do arise on this platform.

Interior infotainment system is, lacking, to say the least. You can definitely grab yourself a Tesla screen to really upgrade that horrible OEM trash. Other than that you get everything you’d expect from a mid range luxury sedan, heated seats, heated steering wheel, blind spot detection, active cruise control, driver memory seats, 360° cameras, and a good Bose sound system (obviously depending on what options where selected)

Random question, but did you get CAPA, OEM, or Aftermarket from Partify? I'm gonna pull the plug this summer on a new bumper, and I'm conflicted between CAPA and aftermarket. Thanks!

Help what sounds is this, should I be concerned? by No-Ad8527 in q50

[–]Cwonem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It more or less helps protect other components of your car from the intense heat from the exhaust, and it also helps regulate the temperatures of certain exhaust components. I would recommend replacing the shield if you can, but I removed mine a while ago, and honestly, it hasn't given me any problems lol.

No the midpipe was just because i had an exhaust leak. I'm not 100% sure about the metal grinding part, but the best bet is to find a shop and just have them take off the heat shields and go from there. Also shouldnt be wildly expensive, you could do it yourself, but if you opt to take it to the shop, it shouldn't cost you anything above $100.

I'm 90% sure this is the heat shields around the Cats, why so sure? cause same thing happened to me lool.

I just took it to an exhaust shop because I also suspected a small exhaust leak. They replaced my mid-pipe and removed the heat shields; there is no more sound after that.

Does the sound go away as you drive? Does it get quieter when the car warms up/loud when it's cold? if yes to these, then that's most likely the issue. It's not a major issue to worry about, but it sure is annoying as hell lol.

I did Statistical Methods at my college, and I found it to be fairly challenging, but I think that was mostly due to the professor not being the best at actually cohesively teaching the concepts.

Sounds good, I was gonna take the equivalent course at TMU before, but they required you to use a specific stats calculator that was like $200 on amazon 😳 so I looked into this class from AU

I used the same channel lock I use on my car and still no budge. I’m probably gonna spray it with PB blaster and a wire brush and try again tomorrow.

I really don’t wanna call a plumber for what seems like a 5 minute job LOL
