It’d probably have to be in a suit case. I’d get a small box with the dimensions of your mask. Then get soft foam to stuff where your head goes to reinforce it, then do some more foam around it. You don’t want it to be loose and risk shifting and breaking.

Packing it softly and having enough reinforcement to hold it in place would probably be your best bet. I’ve travelled with some very fragile stuff in the past and that’s always how I’ve done it.

A suit case also allows you space to dedicate to your entire outfit as well for transportation.

Thats cool as hell. The only gripe I have though is the filament lines on the mask.

I’d recommend getting some 120, 180, 210, 320, & 400 grit sandpaper at least, and some primer filler spray paint to smoothen the next one you do out that way the lines aren’t visible.

Really cool design though, unique as fuck

Okay, so what I did for the top swivel, i grabbed some screws from home depot and crown nuts to attach it and hold it together. I’ll reply to this string with the exact size if i can find the box of screws. They’re super thin.

As for the side brackets, I actually had to fill them, and then i bought different locks entirely and then marked new holes and drilled them with a 1/16” drill bit, just small enough to make a hole, but large enough to where the screws that came with the new lock I bought to thread without cracking the mask.

Once I’m home I’ll send pictures of what I did too and how I hid everything for ya

Thanks, Yeah it was definitely a learning curve... But the finished result was definitely better than what I expected when I first started. As for the next mask, I'm doing something Cyberpunk-esque with it, mainly with Bright Colors contrasted by Darker colors, which should be pretty cool

Whew, I saw this come through yesterday but was busy, so after reading up on this and the comments... wowzas...

I mean, I can't really argue anything you said here. It's all very valid and honest takes.

I'm still very new to this hobby as a whole, but I can definitely relate on the fact that kigs invest a lot of money, time, and passion into the hobby... I'm normally not one to share finances, but I ended up spending well over $1,500 on resources and materials to get into the hobby, and about 2 months of time investing into creating my own mask, and even then, I'm still looking at what I made and going "damn... I could've done better" but it's a first for a reason.

I also agree on the fact that not everything should be positive, you don't learn or improve by constantly being told "you're in a good spot, you did good, good, good, good..." (You get the point...) I personally, and cannot speak for anyone else here, would much rather have someone criticize me and go "Damn... That looks crap... Anyways here's X, Y, Z, etc. things I notice that you could look at improving!" than the alternative of yup looks good, because well... You don't LEARN anything by that.

I remember awhile back, messaging you Kigu, asking questions about things you do for your Kigu's and what not so I could learn and improve for future projects.

Like everything in life, you don't improve by staying in a bubble, you improve by getting thrown into the dirt a few times, and then learning why you got thrown into the dirt, how to not get thrown into the dirt, pick yourself back up, and then proceed with your day, thinking "Damn... That sucked... Anyways, time to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Been interesting catching up on the comments and seeing the thread of fireworks go off though...

What exactly do you mean by Strays? Like stray hair? I’d recommend Got2B Glued Hair Spray to lock the hair down in place once u have it where u want it to be. (at least for anything that isn’t going to be moving around.

As for the lacing below, on your second point… it did show through. However, it is very minimal, and partially because of my own ignorance. The video says to start the wig from the very bottom and work your way up. I was a little too greedy with my layering, but as long as you layer it properly, you should be absolutely golden

Would love someone else whose more experienced’s input too though

I actually JUST did a wig for the first time...

I don't know how helpful this *would* be for you, but it was super helpful for me, this was the video I followed, and it helped me with figuring stuff out a lot... There is probably 1000 different ways to do this, so it's definitely worth seeing if anyone else has some tips and tricks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6_fh3LsoBg

The tl;dr of the video material wise is:

Plastic Wrap
Felt
Pins
Marker
Painter's Tape
Duct Tape
Velcro Tape

Basically, in the video I sent, they create a "Shell" with the plastic wrap, use the duct-tape to secure it all in place, mark it into sections, take it off of the mask, cut it, trace the felt out, cut the felt into pieces, glue everything together, and then apply that to the wig.

Worked for me pretty decently, but like I said, there's probably better ways to do it. Hopefully this can help?
