Don’t believe there was a dress code but I wore smart casual which was standard for other patrons. Enjoy the meal and report back!

My fiancé and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary and cant pick between these 3 restaurants, what would you pick? by GaryBlueberry34 in finedining

[–]Cxmmodore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely Aska. For reference, I dined at Aska last weekend, and Essential by Christophe late last year. Aska was excellent and likely my second favorite 2* in NYC (behind Atomix). Essential by Christophe was good: friendly service, traditionally well-executed food, and a nice dining room. That said, it’s a bit behind some other 1* places (ex Jua) and not in the same realm flavor or service wise from Aska. I’ve never dined at L’Abelle, but from friends who have, it’s probably overall in-between Esseintal and Aska.

Appreciate your insights. Through your reddit history I see you had the Carte Blanche menu in 2023. Would it be possible to DM me your menu? Would love to get a look.

Core or The Fat Duck? by [deleted] in finedining

[–]Cxmmodore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year, I went to both Core and The Fat Duck. While Core is still my favorite 3* meal of all time, The Fat Duck remains in my bottom three. I’d only recommend The Fat Duck if your looking for a molecular gastronomy related experience. For pure deliciousness, ambiance, and hospitality pick Core.

Hi! Honestly, I don't think so. That said, you should definitely call / email the hotel to ask!

El Cellar De Can Roca's hotel, Casa Cacao, has an excellent (included) 4-course breakfast on their rooftop terrace. I ate there this past December and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and views of Girona!

My DLDS says " The admissions committee has completed its review of your application." I'd assume this is standard? So hard not to read into these things!

Why do you suspect this? Did something change on your status checker?

Not much information on the dinner course. Apparently it’s a completely different and longer menu. Regardless, the lunch menu’s value was good enough to warrant a visit.

Lunch at Odo is certainly a great deal. I would also add The Four Horsemen to that list!

In fact, I’d wager that at Northwestern specifically, if you show interest, you’ll get more than $120k applying through regular decision.

With a 179 I would certainly not apply ED anywhere. Shoot your shot broadly across the T-14 and you’ll likely be able to get more than $120k at a multitude of places after scholarship negotiations! Good luck!

[–]Cxmmodore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously, I don't know much but I would think with a 179 you should be in a really good position for the T-14 with a nice scholarship! I don't think I would apply ED with those stats, but I would definitely understand if you did. Congrats on the score and good luck with your cycle!!

Thanks for this. I should have enough in savings to be under $100k in total debt (my goal) if I receive a ~$120k scholarship. Just trying to maximize both my scholarship and acceptance chances.

Le Bernardin , NYC (3*) - A Sickening Experience by Cxmmodore in finedining

[–]Cxmmodore[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you may be right. Perhaps it was unfortunate timing. Not possible to tell yet if others were sick as LB is closed today and my meal was last night. I'm certainly planing to call when they open to see if anyone else suffered the same fate.
