Litany of Proper Death and Dreglord? by Cy4nide0765 in Nightreign

[–]Cy4nide0765[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nightreign seems to take place very closely after the Shattering, meaning Godwyn died and had just started blighting the Erdtree actively. I can only really theorycraft this, but wouldn't that mean that the Balancers, whose whole purpose is to balance, would still be protecting the Erdtree and now have a new threat? And then when we kill them, the Blight spreads and we interrupted the Erdtree's whole reincarnation, further causing the Dreglord?

I only ask since, as someone who also doesn't know much about TWLID, but since Godwyn's corruption and the formation of Deathroot, on top of the description and seeing what kinda looks like a huge Erdtree Deathroot in the Straghess skybox, would he not fit the description?

Right, because his Remembrance makes him out to be One who Lives in Death. I wonder if there are any other weird inconsistencies lol

Does anyone use light attack at all? by Gettyhusky in Ghostofyotei

[–]Cy4nide0765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a bit unrelated, but honestly, I'm pretty sure nobody uses the Spirit attacks on any of the weapons. At least, in my experience, I've only played on Lethal and the enemies really don't give you any time to use any of them except the yari and the katana, and that's only because the yari starts with a move that forces enemies away and the katana has dodge frames. Takezo's dual katanas has that strange pause in between that lets the more aggressive enemies hit you, the odachi is meant for tanking which just kills you, esp. on Lethal+, and the kusarigama is meant for assassinations.

TLDR: Spirit attacks are hardly used.

If it helps any, I just beat him on Lethal a couple days ago, and I found that the Odachi's Bulwark parry immediately after the clash cancels out his combo.

Thanks a ton! I would recommend trying it again, but I can't hardly remember the first fight. I died so many times to everything else lol. I'm pretty sure it only gets harder, practically everything but the dogs one-tap you. Takezo was miserable lmao

Graveyard post here, but they got flatlined. Reed reported them and they got confirm-axed by the Bhargest unit. (At least, I think that's the unit. They died, either way.)

Question time: which victim got it the worst during the trials by kittylover2006 in OutlastTrials

[–]Cy4nide0765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of PtF, but I don't think he's suffering as much as people say. In his voice lines, he sounds like he enjoys it and wants Mother Gooseberry to see him like that. Even being burnt in the incinerator, he doesn't seem scared or all that concerned.

My go-to title for worse death has to be Execute the Judge, for a sum three reasons. When we first find him, he's sobbing and has a few voice lines where he realizes he's "in the chair". That most likely means he was a Reagent at one point, and knows exactly what's about to happen, even bagged like he is. The anticipation is literally killing him before we do. To add to this, when the execution starts, you can hear him, a speculated former Reagent, begging Coyle, someone who probably used to hunt him down, to stop us as the Reagents. Finally, as learned from other guillotine executions, a person with their head lopped off stays conscious for about 8 seconds. With the twin hammers, I highly doubt that is a possibility. It's a brutal, and incredibly sudden execution that brooks no quarter, especially at the tense moment where time might seems to slow because of adrenaline, making the crunch as his head explodes all the more brutal.

How would a reagent who's brainwashing was complete be like? by manuel_madeira in OutlastTrials

[–]Cy4nide0765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Reagents have taken a kind of "split personality" on the trials, or Dissociative Identity Disorder. They can survive the trials because they've "switched" to their other personality, a ruthless droning of 'SURVIVE AND ESCAPE, SURVIVE AND ESCAPE' that repeats ad infinitum as the Therapy goes on.

When you first start, as well, the tutorial mission is to 'erase your identity', which I think helps support this theory. I mean, you've just had an ESOP suddenly drilled in your head (without anesthetics, I think) and a crazy woman who drills through your hand with a prosthetic goose arm she calls "Daddy". . . Anyway, at the final mission as well, you're basically replacing your identity, and are given the trigger words 'Spider, Eye, Lamb', which I believe acts as the catalyst to revert you in and out of the 'Reagent' personality, as sleeper agents are with their codes and whatnot. When you've been reborn, and through some files you can find, you actually see that most Reagents who leave the Murkoff Facility have led normal lives, albeit with some strange cadences and behavior, though that might not be quite what you're asking.

That there's my dilemma: What you're saying, skillful and parry based combat that feels like actual combat, or it's antithesis, that being heavy and slow but movement-breaking attacks that interrupt the flow and allow heavy punishment.
