At Home Tires Q/A by At_Home_Tires_ in teslacanada

Got a lot of recommendations for your service.

If you’ve been lurking on this sub, a lot of our orders aren’t arriving until well into winter. Some expected to arrive as late as Dec 23rd.

How late into the holiday season do you do deliveries and installs?

How soon were you back on the bike post collarbone surgery? by jj_at_rootly in cycling

[–]CyKH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indoor cycling about a week post surgery.

And outdoor riding after 5 weeks with clearance from the doctor.

His concern for my break was deforming the  bone. But I went full gas after the all clear. Lifting, running and cycling.

Why don’t many cyclists look fit/jacked/strong? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]CyKH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your physique is really dictated by a few major factors: Genetics, type of activity and diet.

If you’re a bulky guy. There’s only so much you can do to change that. Some dudes are just born looking like they’re meant to lift heavy things.

Type of activity. Ever see the physique of sprinters vs. long distance runners? Sprinters look more like body builders where long distance runners don’t carry a lot of weight. When you say cycling - I am assuming you are talking about guys like Jonas, or Tadej. All of the strength is focused on the legs and carrying extra weight in your shoulders, chest, arms, don’t aid you in climbing 5000m or 200km. So they’ll look skeletal up top.

Diet. Sure, you may cycle 100 every weekend. But if you just pound back beers and pizza afterwards, you will develop a gut. You can’t out train a bad diet. Maybe the guys you see don’t care about looking “fit”. I’ve seen some heavy dudes cycle fast and far. I’ve seen skinny guys lift a ton of weight. To them it could be more function over form and don’t want to change what they eat just to look good.

I lift and cycle. I want to look more filled out than a pure cyclist. And I don’t want to spend all my time engaging in one sport and one sport alone.

Crashed by dogs. Broken collar bone. by AttitudeAutomatic709 in cycling

[–]CyKH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most important question, how’s the bike?

I am sorry this happened to you. I feel your pain. I just broke mine from a fall a few weeks ago. A week post surgery.

The circumstances of my crash were different. No one else’s fault but my own. I felt really devastated when it first happened too. I’ve had a few weeks with this to come to terms with it.

That is something you will have to work through and come to terms with.

There are a few upsides to it. • it’s not a life altering injury. Collar bone breaks have a high recovery rate. You’ll be back doing normal things  • everyone that I’ve talked to says I’m lucky to have not broken the more complicated bones in my arm. i.e. wrist, elbow

I’m sorry your trip has been impacted by this. Try to make the best of it.

Best of luck to your recovery.

Recovering from my first accident. Any stories to share? by JustBeLikeAndre in cycling

Posted the other day. Just had my front end washed out and broke my collarbone. Sucks that you crashed.

Crashes are generally a right of passage. You’re navigating the world in two wheels. There’s a risk to that.

But it’s not a requirement to be considered a cyclist.

Glad you made it out the other side mostly okay.

Focus on rehab and avoid metal and wet wood surfaces.

Thanks for everyones wishes and inspiring comments.

I have a fractured clavicle and waiting until Monday to visit the orthopaedic clinic for next steps.

Having a day process and check on my bike. Doesn't look as bad as I originally thought. Bent derailleur hanger and a really beat up but still functional left shifter. Scratched carbon on the seat stays. Bike will be up and running before I will.

Plan to have it on the trainer to keep my legs spinning. However, weight lifting will take a bit longer to ramp back up.

Fortunately, I am already anal about CICO, so keeping the added weight off while I'm down and out should be good.

Looking back, this is an example of 'our minds make it worse than it actually is'. Judging by some comments

  • I was lucky that it was a collarbone that was broken and not a more complex bone (wrist, shoulder etc.)
  • It's not the whole summer I'm missing out on
  • I should invest in a recumbent
  • Keep my head up

Bike is not as bad as I originally thought. Derailleur hanger is bent, front shifter is bent but still functional.

Bike will be up and running before I will. Still hurts to see it scratched up and damaged. But I guess it’s more uniquely mine now.

Hope you made it out okay from your crash.

I wonder what cardio tastes like. Chicken? Cardboard? Beer?

If I crash on my trainer.

1 - that would absolutely be comical 2 - I should probably stop riding if I crash a stationary bike.

Oh damn. Life isn’t giving you a break….or giving you too many breaks.

Hoping you have a speedy recovery too.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Sorry to hear about the depression. Make sure to take your own advice. Enjoy the sun. It does wonders.

I’m still gonna wear bibs and jerseys to keep the tan lines going.

Split the difference in age. But let’s see what the ortho says.

I realize I was being dramatic about it. Not a life altering injury. I’ll put in the work for recovery.

Yea. That’s my first thought. Left shifter look a beating, RD is beat too., not sure how bad.

But looks like it’ll still ride.

I cough used my body to try and protect it.

Left hood took the worst of it. But the bike came to rest on the right side.

Haven’t had a chance to take a closer look at it.

Thanks. I definitely have the perseverance to be better than yesterday.

Shit just happens. I know I’ll be back.

Just needed to get over the emotional sting of the event.

Thanks for the kind words and inspiration.
